    Removing Graphics

TRDon started a thread about removing the graphics, which got me to thinking about updating the graphics on my boat. I have two questions, one for your opinions and one technical.

First, I have a Black '05 SV211 with a red top stripe, I'm thinking about replacing the old AIR decal with the chromax Air Nautique logo with the shield between air - and - Nautique, or possibly the wing decal from the newer 210...anyone have any thoughts or opinions? I'm thinking the chromax on the black would look great.

Now the technical, I know there has to be a post about how to remove the original decals, but I can't find it. If anyone has a link or can give me some quality advice (about removing decals that is) it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

To remove the decals, use a hair dryer to warm up the vinyl - not to be confused with a heat gun, which will melt your gel coat. I peel with my left hand, while heating with my right. It's easy, just go slow.

Thanks...That's the route I was thinking...but I was wondering about the heat gun, so I appreciate the warning.

A hair dryer may be preferable, but a heat gun will work fine on a low setting and held a good distance from the gel coat. I removed my decals and pin striping this way. The trick is when you see the decal start to stretch, stop applying heat or it will break and you'll have to start again.

I put the gryphon graphics on my '04 211 and my boat looks waaaaaay better than it did before. Removing the old graphic was easy, but tedious. Be sure to clean the surface with Bestine Adhesive solvent. Gentle but effective. Goo Gone doesn't work. Will post pictures when the boat comes out of storage. Everyone thought I got a new boat!

just took all mine off ... did one letter of the "air" without the hair dryer, and it was rough to say the least. after that just heated up with hair dryer, peeled right off
