    boat cover in the water?

I am moving my boat to a wet slip for a few months. The problem is my cover goes over my swim platform. Can the cover be submerged in the water for a few days at a time or will that jack up my new cover?

Does anyone know where I can get a cover that just covers the bow and interior and perhaps snap onto the rub rail or something?

I think the bigger issue is the long term storage in the water. I have heard it is extreemly bad on the gel coat.

For short term storage in the water, I would look into http://www.theprocover.com/ (one of the site sponsors). It looks like the cover uses straps around the swim platform.

Check out this thread for a picture:

Thanks. We will be pulling the boat 2 times a month for a wipe down waxing the boat once a month. It is tedious, but a lift is car more costly than some elbow grease.

FYI the cover manufacturer said there will be discoloration and some algae growth in the submerged part of the cover, but that was it. I am still going to look into the cover company you sent me.

Sitting in fresh water shouldn't be a problem. Ours (and about 25 others in our marina) sits in a slip for about 6 months every year. I'd strongly recommend a Coversports cover if you're going to keep it in a slip. A cover that's been in water is a real pain to deal with.

We keep the boat at Bartlett.

Response: Coversports covers are great, but I just bought a new cover and figure if I am going to spend a grand on a back up cover I will spend a few more and get a lift.

The cover manufacturer and others tell me that the cover will be fine in the water. It may discolor and get some algae on it, but the warranty remains.

I would see if you can pick up a boat lift over at pleasant and flatbed truck it over. Last I say, there were some Scorpion bay had for sale. Probably pretty cheap knowing how bad both marinas are hurting over there. Have you heard if they are going to be filling the lake from Horseshoe this year. Was at bartlett 2 weeks ago and it is below 50% full right now

I was told that SRP stopped draining Bartlett on May 1st. They were going to release horshoe this week and that should bring hte lake up about 20 - 30 feet.

                  http://www.srpwater.com/dwr/

This link goes to the daily water level readings for SRP including bartlett lake. It says that Bartlett has gone from 46% full to 48% this week. That isn't much. I will call scorpion bay. Thanks for the information!

Are they releasing the entire surplus volume of Horseshoe?
