I agree 3" is nothing, but I would figure out the issue rather then use a band-aid

If im not mistaken...after seeing that pic...it sure looks like that is for a V-Drive boat.

Fenders are way to close to the back of the trailer for it to be the standard direct drive trailer.

Yea...looking at more pics of others...I'm sure that trailer is for the V-Drive 216 Nautiques.

EDIT: I may be wrong...still looking at other Nautiques on their trailers. It just seems that Ramlin had two options...V-Drive and D-Drive and that they were significantly different.

Anyone have some trailer compare pics they can post??? Pretty sure this is the right trailer, but starting to wonder what the heck is up since there is such a great opinion of the Ramlin trailers. Wonder if there would be warranty of some kind on an 06 trailer.

Here's one I found...which negates my previous comment. This is just like your trailer with a direct drive 216 sitting on it...hmmm weird for sure.

If you move the boat back on the trailer you are going to apply more weight to the axles, reducing tongue weight. Tongue weight is a very good thing, should be at least 10 - 15% of the total weight. So for example, if your total weight is 5,000 lbs (using round number for easy math), and you are carrying 15% tongue weight, you would have 750 lbs tongue weight and 4,250 on the axles. If you move the boat back to change to 5% tongue weight (250 lbs), you now have 4,750 lbs on your axles, which would make your problem worse. I will defer to the earlier comments about towing with the trailer level. I observe most people towing with the tongue too low, which applies too much weight to the front axle on a tandem that does not have a pivot between the axles. (The newer torsion axles are completely independent and very sensitive to a level trailer, put the nose down too far and the rear tires won't even touch the ground.) Older leaf spring tandems would equalize the weight via the pivot between the two springs. Don't get me wrong I like torsion axles, you just have to tow them level. Surge brakes also won't work properly if you tow with the nose down.

OK, I may not be perfectly level, but I am darn close. When I am not hooked to the boat and I crank up my trailer jack, I will hit the trailer prop guard on the ground before I level both tires in the wheel wells so......the question is then, what can be replaced component wise on these axels..........or is it a matter of replacing the whole darn thing? Just making sure I know what all of my options are.

Are they springs or torsion axles? If they are torsion axles you may be able to pull the swing arm off of the spline and put the swing arm back on one spline lower.

They are the torsion axles. I guess that is what I could try. Anyone have a step by step guide for this. I have no problem doing the work and there is a good chance I have everyting that I need in my garage to do the work but having said that, this is not work that I have done before and not something that I want to mess up.

Also, I noticed that the port side front tire is bowed out a wee bit, at least that is what the wear on the tire seems to indicate.

I changed the ride height of my trailer this winter. I have a prestige not a ramlin, though. I had tire rubbing when towing fully loaded with fuel coolers, and gear. I put the whole trailer up on jack stands and level. With the tires off, the hubs were level with each other as well. I removed the arms with the brakes still attached (very heavy) with some help, and rotated them one tooth on the axle. This raised the ride height about half of an inch. Looks like all I am going to need.

Agree with skiinxs. You need 9% - 15% of GVWR on a tandem axle trailer. 10% - 15% on a single axle. Also agree that minimum 18" hitch height hooked and loaded is right. Here's my 216 on a prestige.

So does anyone have a basic step by step process on how to remove the swing arm and rotate on the spline to get the extra clearance?

Hey, still hoping someone can help me out with this. I would like to remove the swing arm on my torsion axle and rotate it one spline and see if this helps out. I had a tire off the other day and I have no clue how to remove and rotate 1 spline. Help please.
