If you have a 2000-2001 SAN or SS with a depth sounder, where is your gauge mounted? I'm not seeing any obvious spots on my dash. Thanks.

A friend of mine had a 2000 Ski Nautique. But before you say, I have a SAN, they used the same control panel, the helm was pretty much identical.
In 2000, accessories could be installed by the Correct Craft factory, the regional service center, or the selling dealer. Because of this, you will find different ways depth sounders were installed.
A solution we came up with on his boat was to move the gas gauge down by the throttle handle, and put the depth sounder in the now empty hole in easy view of the driver.

Not a bad idea. Just have to remember to check it down there! I will likely have 2 open spots there, because when I rip out the hard tanks, I won't need the 2 ballast gauges any more. I want to reserve the rest of the space down there for the new impeller pump switches. Now

On my 2000 SAN the voltmeter was relocated down with the ballast gauges and the depth sounder is on the top right of the dash pod. I didn't do it so I haven't completely explored how they re-wired it. In terms of relocating something though - I guess the voltmeter would be easiest. I never look at it down there though.
I'd rather they had moved the gas gauge. I threw the alternator belt one day and didn't notice 'till I saw it down in the bilge that evening while bedding the boat down after the days riding. If the voltmeter was on the dash, I would have noticed the decrease for sure. Good thing I run two batteries!
DanielC - when you moved the gas gauge down did you just lengthen the wires so they would reach? I might trade the fuel gauge for the voltmeter in my set up!Last edited by crobi2; 05-03-2011, 04:58 PM.Rob
