    Modifying a Z5 bimini

I am not sure if anyone has done this before, but I was wondering about modifying a Z5 bimini top to fit an aftermarket tower. Once of the local dealers has a Z5 (from a SeaRay) that he is willing to sell for $5-600. I would love to get it, but have very little welding skill, which it appears is what it would take. I may swing by and take measurement though. If anyone is interested, or if anyone has modified one of these type biminis.
    Thanks

We have a Z5 .... and I would say it depends what needs to be done

Modifying some components could be quite straight forward but you need someone who knows how to work with and weld aluminum

Wish I could help but we are a long ways apart

I think the Z5 is a great product and at that price may be worth a try

Just be sure you find a good local fabricator to do the modifications

Working with and welding aluminum is not hard as long as you have the right equipment and know what you are doing!

Yes, you will need a good welder to do the modifications but at that price it might be worth a shot.

For some reason, I thought my Z5 was stainless? I could be wrong.

I am not close to our boat to double check but I am sure it is aluminum frame - The fasteners will be stainless steel and possibly some of the fittings will likley be stainless as well
