    Transom protection pads

Has anyone used a transom protection pad to keep wakeboards from causing gel coat dings? There seem to be several types: 3MM clear, SeaDeck colored etc. Just wondering if anyone had experience with them, favorable, brand etc.

There was a black pad material that came on my 99 Air that I just sold. It seemed to work pretty well.

I found a transom pad on the Malibu forum it fits my Supra perfect. My wife made this one for my 210. Its black vinyl with 1/2 '' carpet pad inside . It attaches to the rear handles with parachute clips . I remove it and hang it on the trailer guide pole to drain after using . It works perfect and doesn't have to be attached to the boat all the time.

Vantage makes die cut kits in clear film for Nautiques. The material feels like Ghost Armor, both products claim they are used to protect helicopter rotor blades. Pretty much invisible when installed, I put it on my 2011 promo 200. You can buy it from Whitelake Marine

+1 for Gator Grip. I've had it on my boat since '03 and it has held up extreamly well. The only change I've noticed is a bit of shinkage over the years, but I'm talking about maybe 1/4" on a 5' long strip.

Did you glue the gator grip to the transom of the boat? Got any pics?

I have the 3M paint protection film on our "07" 206 on the transom, the windsheild frame where the mirror mounts, and the front of the trailer fenders. This stuff is great you can't even see it. There is a company near me that does a lot of high end cars and they did you boat. Will try to get some pics when we open the cottage and get the boat out of storage.

Gator grip is some great stuff.

3M clear stuff is awesome for not effecting the look of the transom and protecting it.

Gator Grip has an adhesive backing. You just cut it to the size and shape you want, peal off the backing and CAREFULLY stick it in place. That adhesive holds tight once in place! Like I said earlier, all these pieces are now about 8 years old except the transom piece. I replaced it with a piece 4 inches wide to go all the way up to the "Nautique" lettering after seeing a few dings in the gel that high.

I ordered a 10 foot long and about 6 inch wide strip of 3M clear film, the kind they put on car hoods and bumpers. We installed it on the transom of the 230 just above the board and it does the job perfectly while being virtually invisible.

I found many stores on ebay that sell the stuff in different shapes and sizes, it cost about 25-30 if my memory serves. Just be carefull when you put it on to avoid wrinkles. Peels off whenever you don't want it anymore.
