    Road Runner Trailers

We have a Road Runner Trailer and everytime we launch the boat the the Foam and Plastic Pipe which covers the Boat Guides (or whatever they are called) float up and expose the steel pipes

Seems like there is fastener missing to hold these in place or something is not right

    Any ideas

I don't think it's a problem. Between your fender padding and your bunks, I don't believe the exposed pipe below the waterline have muchnchance of contacting your hull, particularly since the PVC piece will contact your rub rail first. Mine do this on my Dorsey and it has never been an issue.

No problem as long as they aren't floating away. It shows you where the trailer is at a steep ramp. If you want to try it without the float take the cap off the top.

I use a couple of black bungee cords and black tyraps. Mine floated off one time and one time only. The bungee allows the pad to roll if she hits it a little hard to one side.

they do it on my ramlin too since they are just capped pvc pipes. but on mine if they are able to float off of the poles i am in WAY too deep with the trailer ...

Mine float up and I use that as a guide to how far down the ramp I am for loading. I don't go deep enough for them to come off. Once I pull out I just press them back down.

I always thought there were supposed to do that.

It doesn't hurt if they float up (as long as they don't float off), but I hold mine down with bungie cords attached to a hole I drilled in the pvc pipe. I also drilled a hole in the cap to vent the air.

I also drilled a hole to keep them from floating too high. My understanding was that the PVC was there as protection around the steel guides and allow them to freely rotate as to not damage the boat when launching or retrieving.
