I don't feel bad. I am pretty sure if someone gave me a $70k wakeboard boat and I had limited intelligence I would sink it and use it for the anchor point for my portable slalom course. I wonder if it ever occurred to the boarders that they could've sold the Ski Nautique for $30-$40k bought a used pontoon boat for $3k and pocketed the rest.

At first I thought that was an old beater boat...then saw the gel scheme later in the video. So less than than three years old and they treat it that way....must be nice.

It's an '08 196. Since it's a Byerly vid, I'm guessing it's a CC team boat of some sort, that was pounded into oblivion. The board guys I know always have fun teasing me for my "dinosaur" sport. I just tease them right back on how their slow-motion sport doesn't even require gloves;-)

i thought it was just some old hunk of crap at the beginning too, but then i noticed the chrome logo on the stern and then the z.o. for this contest they could only use what was given to them i believe. i don't remember all the rules. cool contest though. pick your filmers, build your own obstacles, shred.

What a wonderful way to treat your equipment. I just lost respect for Byerly.

The more I think about it, I can't see CC being overly enthusiastic about a team member trashing/denegrating a late model SN? Maybe I'm just having a moment, but that's just freakin' wrong for him to do that to a 196! At least pick a competitor's model, jeez!

                  I wouldn't think they'd want that. Using a competitor's boat might bring a lawsuit...

Not to mention it is just downright tacky to trash a competitor's boat. No boat should be treated that way.

i never really liked byerly before and i couldn't give less of a flip about him after seeing that. glad he has enough $$$ and respect to use a boat as a freakin' slider.

I've met Scott and he is as nice and humble as one can be. Honestly, it's a free market, free country and he can do what he wants like all of us can. I don't know how they attached that stuff, but nothing that a trip to the gel coat repair man can't fix. FYI-skating behind 196 is the bees knees. He has been with cc his whole career and bt has too as far as I know. I guarantee he didn't do it to upset them, but it would have been cooler using a byerly boat

you're definitely right. he is free to do anything else likes (within the law, and even outside of the law if he accepts any punishment).

                            couple of thoughts:

---ever wonder why your boats cost so much? if they are sponsored riders, i would be willing to bet they paid less than you (and me), so we are picking up the bill.

---if you have ever seen how the sponsored riders load the boats they dont pay for and somebody else picks up the fuel bill on, you would be surprised how hard those boats are treated...

I used to ride jds boat almost daily and he put no more weight in it than your typical shredder. And he treated it very nicely. Also, pros pay for their own gas, but write it off bc it's a work expense. Just some info. If they don't treat them right they don't get FREE boats anymore. Ie George Daniels.
