trying to get the length of my rope right, keep switching the speed and length but can't seem to find the best combo, obviously the slower you go the shorter the rope you need to be in the sweet spot and the longer the faster but i need some suggestions. i have 700 lbs in each locker next to the motor and 500 in the ski locker with a few peeps to even out the wake. thanks

I ride at 23.5 and 75'. That's behind a 2011 210 with factory ballast plus about 2K. Pulled a few people a couple of weeks ago at 24-24.5 and 80'. Most people I ride with ride at 22-23 and 70-75.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. get your wake dialed first. When you have your wake, then speed set(speed is dependent on when the wake is perfect - not the other way around), then start working on the length of the line. Your board should be riding up the wake right before the crumble starts.
There isnt a specific wake, speed, line combo. Its all depending on the weight youre running that specific day and conditions.
Im usually at 23.5-24 mph riding at 80ft. about 2K over internal ballast on a 210.Migs

Lets get your speedometers working first. They are really simple. It is a pressure gauge, a hose, and a pitot tube. A pitot tube is a small hole facing forward, that the faster you go, the more pressure it gets in it.
Disconnect the hose from the tube at the back of the boat, and blow air backwards through it to clear out any debris. A lot more info here.
http://www.airguide.com.au/index.php?p=1_4
Then follow the other suggestions on dialing in the wake, and then the rope length.
I would also suggest you work on progressive line loading, and learning how to get pop off the wake. Do not be one of those wallys that needs 3000 pounds of ballast to do a single wake 180.

preesh on all the help, yea i figured the speedo was something simple, i have been riding for a while but this is my first summer with the ss, ive got the ts and bs 180's and hs 3 down as well as hs backroll, learned that stuff on my old i/o but starting max out the wake before any weight so since i have added the sacs just trying to get the line right and i only fill the sacs cause its usually me and my girlfriend only. not trying to go pro, lol, just be decent regular and switch have a little style.1996 Super Sport

i have a super sport as well. we all do (bout 6 or so on the lake). we all run either 75 or 80 total (including the 5ft handle). on my boat, with gps control, i usally run 23.7 w the 75 and 24.5 with 80. 75 for not so much weight, 80 and sometimes even 82.5 when its juiced.
run 750 in belly, 400s on each side of engine, 300lbs lead in bow. bout 6 people. with the peps, 24.7 80, w just a driver and or passenger, 23.7 75.
but thats all relative. just depends on your style and ability. at 75 tho, the wake is going to be super firm, at 80, its a little steeper but a bit softer.

went out today and with sacs full around (600x2) on each side of the motor and 500 in belly and 3 in the boat 70 ft line was about the best for me where the wake was firm, speedo works intermittently and it was reading 25 and the tach was around 3k but it didn't seem like we were going 25 so im sure it was off.1996 Super Sport

I just got a free app for my IPHONE. Uses the GPS to measure your speed. Checked the APP dead on with the garmin.

The tachometer is purely electrical in function. There are four wires on the tachometer. Black, goes to ground. Purple goes to ignition switched power. Grey, is the signal form the engine, blue is the lights. Make sure the electrical connections are tight.

Best thing you can do, is speed up the boat a little until the wake stops washing out. If you are not comfortable doing that, you probably shouldnt be running that much weight in your boat. The nautiques have more pop with less weight than most boats.
I would not run shorter than 75ft with that much weight. I can ride my sante easily at 75 w/o any weight. When I weight (i.e. usually about 1000lbs) i go out to 80 and its still a pretty gentle cut.
I am 200lbs:
<70ft @ 22 mph or <
75ft @ 22.5-23.5 mph thats usually money (wake is clean and firm)
(rpms usually around 2600-2800, if i am remembering correctly)
80ft @ 23.5-24.5 mph with 1000lbs or more
85ft @ 24+mph with 1500lbs+
this thread is now dead lol
