I'm curious what the cost would be over the 409 more than anything. That absolutely would be a good motor in a wakeboat, supercharger would give you loads of low end torque. The big blocks are more efficient because of the torque, that thing should be as well.
traditional style tubed headers that dont appear to be water cooled. sounds like a hot and noisy engine compartment to me....
Oh they are most definitely water cooled. There are several similar jacketed long tube marine headers on the market- check out CMI.
I was wondering how long it would take for PCM to finally update their website. They were passing out brochures containing the ZR-450 and SC 550hp motor in Jan! Ive heard speculation that CC will not even offer the ZR-450 in all boats- which seems a shame. Id love to see what those 2 engines would do for a 200. Im sure theyre $$$ though.
This motor in a 200 would be fast but still it's a slow hull. Probably mid 50s? What's the 450 got the 200 up to?
This motor in a 196 hull, especially one out of the ultra fast mold, with this motor...well you probably wouldn't be able to use all 550 HP before it got way to sketchy to drive. The correctcraftfan.com orange crush with the 409 hits 55 many times and I believe has bounced to 56. I'd bet you could hit 65 with the XS motor in that boat of you could prevent rudder stall and other steering issues
Aaron is right, 550sc is an option for the 230 only- thats right from the mouth of PCM. Bummer.
Word is that the motor pushed PCM's No Wake Zone test rig to 65mph. I bet it would push a 200 into the mid to upper 50's.
Logic says that the 450 should push the 200dd past the 50 mark, if the 409 is good for ~47mph.
The Crush has hit 57 at least once under ideal conditions- low altitude, cool water, lots of weight in the rear. Ive ridden in it up to 56mph... but on any given day, without additional weight in the back, its only a 52-53mph boat.
