Spyder Tower

I'm considering adding an original factory Spyder Tower to my SN and had some questions I was hoping some of you might know the answer to...

Here is my situation, my 3 kids like to wakeboard and tube...none of them are going for massive air. We currently have a skylon pole that we use every time we take the boat out.

So I'm considering adding the spyder tower because I think it would be a lot more convenient than putting the pole up each time, and frankly I believe they look a billion times better than the tall pole, and it would be nice to get the wakeboards and ski off the floor of the boat.

Questions...

Should I care that the point that the rope attaches isn't as high as it is on the skylon pole given the type of wakeboarding my kids do?

If anyone has been on a SN with a Spyder Tower...would you mind sharing your thoughts/opinion on it?

I would also love to add a wakeboard and ski rack to it so I could get that stuff off the floor of the boat...I've not had a tower before, but it appears that there are universal racks that should fit without much of a problem...right?

Instead of the spyder tower, I would suggest a standard FCT design by New Dimensions. The Spyder Tower looks cool, but has a couple of drawbacks. Finding one will be very difficult. It is shorter than the standard tower, which means you WILL bang your head on it constantly. It will be harder to find racks for this tower, and it will also not get the mount point for the rope up as much as a standard tower. Also, I am not sure if that tower folds down for storage. They do look cool though, and are very rare.

Not to mention would the Spyder Tower even fit a 90' Hull.

Towers have many benefits however they do also have some drawbacks, never seen or owned a cover for a tower boat that is not a bit of a pain to put on/off, tower may need to fold every time you go under canopy or in the garage, added weight/bigger slalom wake.

The beam of a '90SN is essentially the same as the TSC models, so a spyder may fit? (Would you believe the TSC's draft is 2" less than the NWZ hull too?) Sorry to hear you may have to turn your SN into a wake boat:-(

Out of curiosity...do you know why he is selling it?

It would be great to hear from someone that has used one in the past...I know that is a tough quest as so few were ever put into production!

There is a trick skier in my area that has a ND mini tower on his 09' ski. It looks different, not bad, just different. So that could be another option if your talking to the folks at ND.

The Spider tower is probably for sale because they got tired of having to wear a helmet every time they used the boat

I sincerely appreciate the time, your feedback and knowledge of: my particular boat; the tower I was considering; and what I'm looking to do was spot on.

If in anyone is in the Sacramento area and needs maintenance for their boat...call this guy!!!! His willingness to hear me out, answer a billion questions, and provide excellent feedback was invaluable. I'm in the Seattle area, but if I was anywhere near Sacramento he would be on my speed dial for my Nautique!
