    Another Wakesurfing Question

I have a 2008 230. This season I am planning on surfing more often, however I am having issues with my wake.

Here is my set-up: Stock ballast on riders side as well as belly tank. I have (2) 550lb fat sacks...one in trunk on riders side and other in the bow on riders side. All people on the boat on the riders side when starboard and everyone but driver when port. The wake on the starboard side is awesome. Great lip, big face, good to ride. The wake on the port side is crap. It's almost like there is a rooster tail coming up at me while surfing. It's times like this I wish I was goofy-footed.

How can I clean the wake up on the port side? I really want to surf this summer, but it just isn't as fun when the face of the wake is broken up by a rooster tail that sprays me in the face. Suggestions, comments, direction? Do I need to add weight someplace, reduce it someplace, relocate it? I'm all ears!

Thanks in advance for your help

That's curious b/c I thought the 230 was a left-hand prop which I understand makes the surf wake on port better than stbd. Does the serial number of the prop on your boat end in a odd or an even number?

For my 211, on the driver's side for goffy riders (rare among my crew) we need to add more weight / ballast aft than for riders on the port side...

Also, what speed are you surfing?

My boat and I are not currently in the same location so I can't answer the question about the serial# on the prop. But like you said, I thought the wake should be better on the port side.

I have been playing with the speed to see if it matters and it unfortunately doesn't. I've tried between 9.5 and 11.5 and the rooster tail is still there.

Thanks for the link. I had seen that one and no one mentions having the rooster tail issue, which is my primary concern. To have an awesome wake on the starboard side and a crappy rooster tail wake on the port, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I am wondering if the prop (pitch and diameter) has anything to do with the rooster tail.

I just looked at the prop last week, but I don't remember what it is. My shop refers to it as the power prop. I'll need to look at it next time I take the boat out, which unfortunately won't be until July 1st.

Surprised there haven't been more 230 owners posting their comments...

Me too, as that is what I was hoping for. Maybe no one else has experienced anything like this or doesn't know how to remedy it?
