Newbie Wake Surfer on a 216 AN

I need suggestions for weighting a 216 Air for wakesurfing. I have about 900 Lbs. of fsac and the stock ballasts, but am falling just short of having enough wake to push the board. It is almost there......do I need more fat sacs or just more people?

    Thanks for any ideas.

    Hey JB,
Not sure what the exact solution is yet either......i'm riding behind the same boat (2006 Air 216 Team). Last year I only had 1 540lb bag and it didn't work out too well. Also had a crappy board (too small I think) Just bought a different board as well as 2 additional 400lb bags. Going out on Sunday to play around a bit and will let you know how it goes.

I can tell you though that you will do much better with the starboard side for getting a nice clean curl on this boat.

My guess on what will work------------both stock ballasts full, 540 beside the doghouse on the starboard side, 400 on the back seat as far towards the starboard side as possible, and as full as I can get another 400 on the starboard side of the rear ski locker (will probably be about 260lbs if my calcs are right) Not sure where this will put the gas vent though so may have to change this up a bit too keep that vent a couple inches above the water line. With stock this should give me about 1600lbs in total.

Will keep you in the loop.

Thanks a bunch! I have the HL Landlock and I weigh about 210. Gets up easy and is almost there but just need more weight in order to drop the rope. I will let you know what I figure out. Thanks for the feedback. jb

          Hey JB,
Went out yesterday and the water was cold and rough.......big wind, but went for it anyway.

We rode almost as I mentioned before, 540 beside the doghouse, 400 on the starboard side behind the doghouse (on the floor since I couldn't get the bag to stay on the seat), starboard tank full and about 250lbs in the trunk on the starboard side. We tried with the port tank full and different speeds as well but found it to be the best with the above mentioned and the port tank empty and about 9mph.......anything faster seemed to kill the push. Only thing I don't like is that I had to be about 6'-7; off the platform.

This is the best i found so far........i'm about 200lbs surfing ropeless with a 4'8" Ronix Cortez.

Let me know how things go for you!
