Question regarding SN200 propeller use in tournaments

A buddy in the promo program gets his 1st 200 last month. The RPM's were around 4,200 so we pulled the prop from my 206 and tried it. The RPM’s dropped to around 3,900 and it’s still very strong out of the hole. Also, there was no change in the extremely sweet wake or anything else with the boat that we noticed.

Heard he may have to put the original higher RPM prop back on for an upcoming tourney. Anybody here know if this is correct and if so, why?

This is the list of approved boats and configurations (propeller, zero-off) that meet the 2010-2011 USA Water Ski Approved Tournament Towboat Evaluation criteria and guidelines. Does the "new propeler" on this list?

Shane did a bunch of tests with a few props.
I would leave the ACME 422 on as it is a better pull and feel for the skier. If he is not pulling jump, leave it on.
They will not even look at the prop when the boat shows up.

        No it's a 422 12.5 X 15.5. Thanks so much for the link though!

Thanks Mark. No jumping just slalom. So which prop did Shane find worked best for slalom? 422 12.5X15.5?

Everyone loves the 422, especially drivers who don't have to listen to 4500rpm 36mph skiing. LOL. We've left it on. There is usually no check of props for tournaments. Even nationals they don't check the prop #, only condition. The only exception for us is head to head tournaments such as the Big Dawg where all boats need to have the same prop. Our boat will be at the Big Dawg this weekend with an 1868 on it for that reason.

Do you have the 6.0L or the 5.7L in your boat when you are running the 422 prop. I was a bit worried about the hole shot if I made the change with only the 5.7L engine. Would love to bring down the rpm's and maybe save a bit of gas. I'm surprised by how much this boat drinks gas compared to my old BU. Seems every time I'm going out it is sitting on E.

The 2011 200 we swapped props on has the 5.7L/343HP and the 422 brought the RPM's down from 4,200 to 3,950 at 34.2 MPH. It still takes much more fuel than his 09 196 or my 09 206 with same motor and 422. I found this link with additional info:

5.7. No worries with hole shot. I wouldn't use this prop with an open jumper, but for slalom it's sweet.
