    Stupid me!!!

I accidentally left my boat running on the trailer after I pulled it out for about 1 minute. What should I check other than the impeller. Could this have done any damage to the motor? 2010 230....Thanks for any advise.

Shaft packing (if it was in gear)... although I would hope you would have noticed sooner if it were in gear!

It probably didn't overheat in 1 minute, so you are probably okay. Might want to change the impeller even if it looks fine.

It wasn't in gear. Still can't believe that I did this! Lesson learned I guess. Thanks for the reply.

Agreed, it will be degraded despite how it looks. One minute isn't enough to do serious damage to anything but the impeller. Any more than that, could be a problem. When you get your new one, buy two, then you always have a spare. Of course, I xpect you won't do that again.

I had a stupid weekend too. I've been boating 35 years, but this weekend I left the straps on the back. Being the boat was sitting in the warehouse and I had to move it 10 feet to the ramp, I never thought about the straps. I had almost the whole SUV in the water. I finally figured it out when I felt the trailer floating. I just laughed.

Happy there was no damage. You can change an impeller in 30 minute. Look for Airtools direction on the site if you don't know how.

I left my straps on a few weeks ago too. Realized it when my boat and trailer moved about 45 degrees. Never really used them on my Air, so I had to add a new checklist item.

I would just take a quick look at your figerglass exhaust system and hoses and make sure they are not blistered or deformed. I did this one time too (even withouth the kids distracting me) Unless you are on a steep slope, all the water stays in the system to keep things cool. Temps can't go up until the water is boiled out. That takes much longer than a minute. My impeller was fine and dandy. There was still water in the strainer cup which means no water was circulating...a good thing actually else the impeller would smoke a lot faster. I'm sure your engine is just fine. Then engines can run a long time without over heating. Inspect the extierior of the exhaust and change your impleller then get over it.

threadjack continuation: I saw some folks load out a 236 with one trailer strap removed the other in place. It was very awkward and they had no clue...kept backing down. I figured it out when I waded over to help and noticed my foot under the trailer tire. They couldn't release the latch we pulled out and fortunately the boat rested down in the proper position. It had gone crazy crooked on the trailer.

Thanks for all of the info....I'm now begining to ease my mind from this dumb mistake. I just ordered a new impeller from White Lake....Glad i'm not the only one to do these silly things!!!
