I have a SAN 230 with Coastal Edition. I have taken it out 3 times in the salt water. It handles just as good on the ocean as the lake. The issue is when the wind blows or there are swells it got really sketchy. The low bow and hull design make it possible to get a wave over the bow and get you into some real trouble. The real issue for me was that it was a complete nightmare to clean, and just the thought of all the salt water on the boat has made me never take it back. I spent 6 plus hours plus had it detailed after the last time out on the ocean. The wind picked up suddenly and just motoring back the ocean spray covered the boat top to bottom.

the resale on the 230 will dwarf the 226.
