Towing with Nautique Cover

Even with a Coversports cover, if it's a nice day, I don't leave it on for highway speeds. I don't think it's bothering the boat, but there is a bit of movement around the windshield and I think the cover will have a longer life if it's not subjected to 65+ mph wind speeds. I don't hesitate to tow it around town with the cover on though.

Agreed! I don't tow at high speeds with mine either - unless it's raining.

I am about to try towing with my new Cover Sports cover in about an hour. Based on how tight it is, I expect it to tow perfectly.

Keep an eye on it around the windshield. There's a reason Brent puts all that extra padding there.

Good point. If I was going a long distance, I'd tape some microfiber towels over the 'corners' of the windshield. I do put two towels between the cover and the bow stop.

Also, I've made one minor modification to my cover. I noticed that where the cover fits under the nose, the draw string is exposed and could rub on the gel coat. I got one of those velcro pads designed to cover the straps on an infants car seat so they don't rub on the infant (our infant didn't seem to miss them) and velcroed it around the rope. I'm afraid I don't have a picture of this, but it's pretty easy to remedy.

Brent modified this in his newer covers. The one I just purchased has the draw string enclosed on the nose.

My cover sports cover is super tight fit. I tow with it driving 90+ mph uphill the cover does no damage to the boat and no signs of wear on the cover itself. Mine came with an extra layer of softer cloth material where it meets the windshield and back ski pole. Highly recommend these covers they are super easy to put on and easy to put on while in the water for docking.

actually if it is the rachet style cover it is made for towing

I think these Nautique factory towing covers are actually made by Commercial Sewing and not rankin as people have said. Check out the commercial sewing website and the video of them towing different boats with this style cover!

I only tow with my cover if it is raining or the road is wet to keep the grime out.
