New Cover from Cover Sports!!

Brent was a little apprehensive about making a cover for my boat because this is the first one he built for a 210 with an FCT5. Since my boat is about 3,000 miles from his shop, he didn't want to run into any problems. I told him that I would have it modified locally if necessary, but it fits PERFECTLY right out of the box!

Sorry for the bad pictures. It is about 10:45, and I just finished installing and adjusting it and wanted to get pics up. I will try to get some better ones tomorrow.

I have been lurking on Planetnautiqe for a number of years and recently purchased a cover from Brent at Coversport based on the comments from the board. I have a '94 Sport with a Samsom sports tower on it, I was nervous about getting the fit right since my tower is not standard on my boat. I am very satisfied with the fit, materials, design, etc of my new cover. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Coversports to even my most particular boating friends.

Stupid question, but is it waterproof? I like the idea of no straps.

It is made of sunbrella, which is treated to be water and UV resistant. It does not require tenting and repells water when installed correctly. As with all sunbrella covers, it needs to be treated every couple of years (depending on use) with a product like 303 Fabric Guard (green label) to re-up its water and UV resistance.

Yep, that's exactly right. This cover is so easy to install too, which I love. The clips on the side are adjustable, and connect to the rubrail, keeping the sunbrella tight across the boat. That eliminates the need for poles.

Very nice cover Jeff (and boat!). I didn't see any boats with towers on their website but obviously they make them. Is the process for getting the template easy? I still have my '02 210 and the cover is showing it's age.

Also, can you get a shot of the nose?

Yeah, they seem to have patterns for most Nautiques, even the ones with towers. Mine was the first one he built for a boat with the FCT5, but it fits perfectly. The cover has a rubber material at the nose that seems to be a little more durable so that it won't wear through at the crash pad. See below. Sorry for the terrible nighttime iPhone pics, but it is the best I can do right now!

Here's how Brent at Cover Sports describes the nose area of the cover...

The cover is reinforced at wear points such as the windshield, tall pylons, ect. with an all temperature vinyl nose piece protecting cover from trailer stop abrasions. Additional accessories are, non stretch yacht braid rope, acrylic binding, welded stainless steel -d- rings with poly propylene webbing, which have all been proven to stand up to the elements.

The cover is unique, in that it is both tow-able, and can be moored in the water. Its unique rail grab system allows for this by holding the cover tight to the rail by means of adjustable grabs. Its five back pull straps keep it tight from front to back, and its synch strap snugs the cover securely under the gunnels.

I have been lurking but not participating that much. Last year the I busted my v-drive so we did not get much water time. She is all back together and running great again.

curious.... why does the cover not cover the transom?

I don't know why they are designed like that, but I can tell you that it makes the cover easier to put on. It covers all of the upholstery, and ends just after the vinyl on the sundeck. I can put this cover on by myself in less than three minutes.

There was a question earlier about how waterproof this cover is. Here's a short video of the cover today during the rain. Water just beads up and rolls right off.

for behind the windshield, how does the cover "tent up" without a pole back there?

Well, I go to put my covet to the test yesterday. I towed the boat through a virtual monsoon yesterday on the way home from the lake. Rained so hard and wind speeds so high we had to pull over. Lasted well over an hour and then let up for the last 30 minutes of the drive. When I put the boat in the garage, I was happy to find that it was bone dry. So was the cover.
