I disagree with Abundigga. The 206 and 216 are very different slalom wakes. I have a 206 and slalom is my primary interest. when you get into short line, the difference is very noticeable.

My mistake... I always forget about the wake characteristics at more than 15 off. I have never slalomed more than 15 off, so I can't speak for that. I only got to go behind the 206 for a few minuties, so I'm not the most reliable source. But I do remember thinking how similar the shape is to the 216. Now that I think of it, it probably was a bit smaller, esp. the rooster tail, but I still remember the shape being pretty much the same. It all comes down to your specific level and how much you slalom compared to board and exactly what your priorities are. If you slalom 60% of the time more than anyone else, I'd go w/ the 206. Otherwise, I think it'd be worth the compromise.I Nautique, therefore I am.

I have a black hull, and no, it really doesn't always look dirty. I can understand that concern though, since black cars easily look bad with the slightest amount of dirt on them. I use a teflon wax that makes the debris on the surface of the water not stick to the gelcoat at all. It really works! There is hardly ever a waterline on my boat. I do wipe it down every time after removing it from the water. I have been able to keep the black hull scratch-free for two years now, and it still looks great. My next boat will also be black, and I would recommend getting the black hull to anyone who is interested in it.

I have a black hull and it still looks brand new. It has been used for one season only, but I 303 the whole boat down every couple weeks, and there is yet to be a waterline on it. I haven't waxed it yet, but want to. However, the 303 does a great job as a substitute. It keeps the boat shining. There are also no scratches on mine. Black hulls are great, like Jeff said, and if you care about your boat at all, you'll be fine going w/ the black h ull.I Nautique, therefore I am.

Hey JFT. I'll pipe in here. First, the 206 is much different than the 216--IMHO. The 206 is a hardcore slalom boat with an intermediate wakeboard wake. The 216 is a all around boat--thus the "Sport" designation by CC--but not hardcore at anything. As you get into short line slalom, the 206 is going to be much better than the 216. The 206 wake is also smaller and softer at 15 and 22 off. If you never plan on getting into shortline and just want a boat that has lots of room and will do the job for both slalom and wakeboard, I'd get the 216. So, two questions: a. How many people will you take with you on your outings? b. Do you have access to a private lake? If the answer to question a is 5 or more on a regular basis and you don't plan on getting into shortline course skiing, get the 216. You'll love the storage and room. If your answer to b is yes, then I'd get the 206 no matter what. In that case, the room doesn't matter as the lake probably has a waiting dock for you to stow gear and people. I love the 206. It has a hardcore ski wake and does the wakeboard thing almost as good as the 216.
As far as colors, I love the solid hull but would not own one. I'm not even worried about the scratches. It's the water spotting that bugs me. And, its difficult to get under the boat and clean the hull with the trailer in the way. My lake has high alkylne (sp?) so the water spotting is a problem. If you have a lift where you can clean the hull regularly, then I'd get the black or solid color hull. They look awesome. Otherwise, I'd buy the silver cloud hull with the black stripe. You won't have a trouble with scratches. Just be careful around the dock and if you do get a scratch, you can either buff or wet sand it out.
Good luck.

Here is another tip. Launch the trailer a little bit deeper so that the boat floats off of the trailer instead of having to power it off. When you go to reload, put the trailer in deeper to really wet the bunks, pull it back out to the proper level and then load the boat.
