    1984 Ski Nautique verse a older 2001

I use to have a mastercraft that is why my user name is what it is.

I'm looking at possibly buying a 1984 Ski Nautique but I've always liked the old 2001 Nautiques because they do everything. What is the difference between the 2 boats? Would the Ski Nauti wakeboard as good as the 2001? what should I look for when I look at it. He said the stringers have not been rebuilt but all motor mounts hold the proper torque. Motor has been rebuilt and it has a new trailer.

    Thanks.

The SN 2001 was made from 82'-89'. So what you're looking at is the classic 2001 ski nautique hull. Any of the nautiques during those yrs are the 2001.

So it is a 2001 hull then? It doesn't say 2001 on the side like I thought all 2001's did. Sorry for my questions I'm a new guy to the nautique family so I want to learn about them. What would be a good price if it checked out? Not sure about the hours and I think the inside would need to be redone. I'm not sure how much it cost to do that.

If its a Ski Nautique from 1984, its a 2001. It's possible that the boat is another CC model, refer to this for more information:

        http://www.correctcraftfan.com/refer...ex.asp?page=07

A picture would help us tell you more about the boat.

In regards to the price, 2001's vary a lot. The biggest issue isn't carpet and vinyl repair, its rotten stringers/flooring. It is pretty typical on these boats to have some sort of rot damage and water-logged foam, and that costs a lot to redo properly. A fair price on a good condition 2001 is 6-9k from what I have seen. The value of these boats seems to be a crapshoot, I just started looking at one in Michigan that is listed for 10.5, but it is described as 'showroom condition." Even if that is true, I personally don't feel a 20+ year old boat with wooden flooring and stringers with a carbed engine is worth 10k...

I'm not sure if this will work or not since I've never uploaded pic's to here. The boat looks like the picture in that lnk you just sent.

I just purchased a 1984 Ski Nautique 2001 model. I'm trying to figure out a unique question on a 351 Ford Motor that has a distributor with points distributor and we can't fine the plug wires that work with that motor with that distributor. Do you know of anyone that might know what brand and part number I need. Anyone know?

I agree! I just purchased a 1984 Ski Nautique 2001 for $3,500.00 and my buddy helped me rebuild the carbeurator and replace parts that are common for tuning up. The entire around mine has been replaced since new but it needs some love and care to get it looking good and the floor under the front passenger seat is soft so the floor needs replacing and the carpet is going to need it. If figure this winter when its better weather we will start on getting the wood and carpet replaced but it runs and only has 700 hrs on it since new.

Just get a standard set of plug wires of a ford 351 at the auto parts store. Ask for under the headder wires (which are a little longer) if they have them. Then just make sure you have the fireing order correct. Should be easy.

Well, I don't think that will work.

Ford 302 and 351w's in auto use had male terminal ends on the distributor caps, and the ones on Marine prestolite distributors have female ends, at least on these older ones. IIRC, GT40 351s are the exact same as the auto ones though. Get a custom DIY set and you won't have any problems, or you might be able to find a set that will work off the shelf at an auto parts store. The ones that came on my pcm 351 were not stock, as they were orange autolites, but I got ones from a local dealer that were genuine PCM ones for 40 dollars. You would be hard pressed to find a decent set of wires for less than that.
