I own a python and would not race it against anything other than a boat with the same hull. Its just not apples to apples. Is the python a beast, yes! Will it spank all other Super Airs, Yes! Thats about all the claim to fame they have on speed. Now both of you add 2000 lbs of ballast and then race him. Thats where they will shine.

      • 78 CC Martinique, rebuilt floor and custom interior.

Not all CC's are "slow" I had my 78 martinique ( same hull as a SN of that age) out after I got my strut straight and the speedo read 47 mph with quite a bit of RPM's left.

Granted mine has quite a bit more power than the 240 hp it had stock, but I also have added a bit more weight to it from stock with my updated interior. This was on an old school federal 3 blade. I've had my martinique out before several times with SN's SAN's and Sports of that same age and even when my boat had the same interior as now, and the stock 240hp (granted with a acme 208 prop) it was quite a bit faster than any of those newer CC's ... every time. All those boats were GT40's and not python's but I doubt that bigger motor really did much for top speed.

I know with the right prop, a little less weight and even more hp these can go 55-60 mph, but this is one of the faster hulls for CC's.

I'd wager that the 115 hp checkmate would be faster. Checkmates are know to be fast, CC's like a SAN as stated before are simply not made for speed.
