I heard a rumor that Diamondback may be back in as the manufacturer of the tower and Roswell maybe out due to safety concerns.......

The least they could have done was powder coat the "safety blocks" the same color as the rest of the tower and not flat black...Current Nautique: 2013 G23

There could be issues with any tower on the market. All that is important is that DiamondBack(an American company) may be back in the door making the FT-5. I dont think there has been one public safety issue that anyone can speak of. DiamondBack made towers in the past and its rumored that they may be building them again in the future.

From what my dealer said there were a few instances around the country of the tower collapsing forward when not intended. I received a slightly panicked phone call from my dealer to not use my boat until this was done. I had Wetsounds 485s on my tower and after the first trip in some semi-rough water, there was over inch of play front to back when shaking the tower. Something in the latch mechanism not holding tight apparently. Thus the fantastic looking safety blocks where the tower meets the base. The Roswell guys were at my dealer for an entire week putting these on all of the 2011 boats that had been sold (luckily I was first in line) and in stock. To me it is a design mistake and "Mickey Mouse" fix on a $100K boat. Not sure that I buy what Roswell said about having to rush the tower to market, because there are two sides to every story. Since they put the safety blocks in place, there is no more play in my tower and I am not concerned about it. All of the boats now come with this already in place.Current Nautique: 2013 G23

Retrofit is a JOKE!! Send me a new Tower!
Retrofit is a Joke for a $115,000.00 boat. Why don't they fix this major design flaw instead of making a poor effort of a quick fix and keep shipping boats this way. I Just got my brand new 230 in July and they are still shipping this piece of junk tower with this beautiful boat. The tower latches are crap and just providing screws does not solve the problem. This should be a major re-call..but it is going to take someone being bashed on the head by a falling tower because they were fiddling with two stupid screws. Not what I would expect from Nautiques.
