    1996 Sport Nautique Value

I am looking into buying a new boat. I am looking at a 1996 Sport nautique with an open bow, tower, 220 hours. The price is 21900. What does everyone think good deal or not.

    RE: 1996 Sport Nautique Value

What condition is it in? Any pictures? What kind of tower? Color? Any other options/upgrades? What kind of trailer?

There are many factors that go into the used price.

This is just my opinion and I'm no expert but when I was shopping last summer for a Nautique I looked at everything from early 80s to 2000 model years and did alot of research before buying a really nice 90 Ski Nautique. My friend also owns a Sport Nautique and keeps up on the values of them and we seem to agree that 21900 is a bit high. I would offer 17900 and see where he takes it from there. I know that there are a lot nice boats out there to choose from (Correct Craft owners just seem to take better care of their stuff) so don't be afraid to deal a bit.
You might find, however, that it's worth the extra money if it's close to you otherwise you have to go get it or have it transported and that can be expensive. It could also be that he's including alot of stuff in the price, wakeboards or skis and ropes, life jackets, anchor, accessories, etc. Alot to weigh in your decision and ultimately it's up to you whether that's a price you are willing to pay. Good luck and enjoy whatever you get! Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Don't forget to find out about the service and maintenance record. Find out what dealer the owner uses. Those guys should give you some good feedback. As far as price goes, it's all relative. I spent a lot more than that on a 1999 sport last winter....but the boat was truely in "perfect" shape. The previous owner was completely anal about keeping it serviced and cleaned. The dealer that I was working with was the original dealer that sold the boat...they had done all the winterizations and summerizations....so they new that the boat was in perfect shape. When it was in the showroom up next to the brand new boats...you couldn't hardly tell a difference.....so price has a lot of complex factors....

I would also suggest doing a bunch of surfing on the web for boats around that age and with approximately the same options. It won't take long to start to get the feel for the boat your looking at.

I own a 95 SS. I would say $22k is pretty reasonable, depending on condition. Check out boattraderonline.com there are usually a few older SS listed on there, usually in that range if not a bit higher.
Ummm, I\'ll take the REAL 210 please. Thanks.

You can put in your ZIP to help get a rough idea of the boat value.

that may not be too bad a price. I am currently selling my '98 sport, excellent condition (Nautique dealer's words), 290 hours, Skylon pylon extension, 290 hp 5.8 HO engine, Custom Eagle S/A trailer, CD, Depth finder, bow cover, cover. I am asking $20,500 but I am getting ready to take it to the local Nautique dealer to sell on consignment. He says he will get $22,000 for it easily.

If you look at a similar thread elsewhere in general discussion you see a 96 sport that a guy just bought for 14,100. I'm sure it's not as nice as this one is but that's a far cry from 21,900.

The 96 was a Ski Nautique Open Bow not a sport nautique. I think the Sport Nautique is a little bigger.

21k is a little high for a 96 sport, even though the hull is the one you want for wakeboarding. I would offer 17k, 22k can get you a nice super sport.
