1994 Ski Natique 1.23 ratio transmission

Hello boating friends,
I was tangled in some very heavy weeds and used reverse quite agressively getting myself out. Now reverse won't engage until 1500-2000 rpm and then very hard. It works fine going forward. Does this sound like a rebuild job? Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks, Tom

P.S. If I drain the tranny what is capacity and recommended fluid? I was told 2 1/2 qts. Also, any recommended additives????

Try calling fantastic finish marine. They specialize in boat trannys.
