    replacing injectors

I have a "95" sn with the GT-40 engine. I need to replace one or some of the injectors. First of all is this a "diffacult" thing to attempt? is there an easy way to find the "bad" one? and second is there a more economic route to go besides buying them through PCM? Was thinking that their shouldn't be much of a difference if I was to order them from summit racing or similar place.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Never replaced them on a GT motor, but to find the bad one you might be able to tell by the spark plug. Pick the one that looks different than the rest. If it is in fact clogged, or has a bad spray pattern, the plug will probably be burned. If you have an infrared thermometer you might be able to get some sort of clue from the temps out of the exhaust port... but then again coming into a big cast iron headder it could be tough to distinguish. Other than that they would have to be placed on a bench for flow checks.

i actually don't have one clogged, I am having one that stay's open, dumping to much fuel. Would I still be able to tell by the spark plug? If the task isn't to difficult, i was considering replacing the four on one side and then if that doesn't fix the problem I would shoot for the other four. Just don't know if it truley makes a difference if I use PCM parts....after all it is just a ford motor.

If it's getting too much fuel, yes, the plug will evidence that as well. Like I said, I've never worked on the GT motor so i can't speak of ease of R&R but I would go with the PCM part number unless you know the specs of the injector. There is nothing special about a marine injector like the other spark arresting components, but I'm almost sure the marine applications have different flows than the automotive GT engine. Especially if you're only going to change a few of them, you want to make sure the flows match or you could get a funny running engine.

What color are the injectors on the top plastic parts besides black? That is a determining factor if the #s of injector rating they are.

As long as they are the same flow, then yes.

Need to make sure that it is a injector and not something else like a MAP sensor, fuel pressure regulator rupture etc. I think they a common 25# injectors. Investigate a fuel injection repair shop to check them. We have a Diesel Fuel Injection shop that checked and cleaned mine during overhaul.

ya everything else has been checked out. from what I have gathered they are 24# injectors.
