I saw that. Crazy heavy. We put another apprx. 1850 lbs. over stock at times and ride 80 ft at 25-26 mph depending on rider. Have about 400 lbs in lead that we can put in and move around the boat if needed as well. The wake is pretty killer and a bit scary honestly. Can't imagine another few thousand lbs.

Don't do it very often though, likes to suck the gas a bit with that set up.....

      I saw that thread also...

Nobody needs that much ballast! Even the pros don't ride with that much.

      It seems dangerous to me.

This is maybe off the topic, but we went and saw the King of Wake Pro Wakeboard Tour event on July 9 in Monroe, WA. They were riding behind a MC X Star (I think). I wasn't close enough to see if they had sacs on the floor and the bow had the tonneau cover on, but based on how low (uncomfortably low) the bow was riding (pickle forks were just inches above the water line at idle) I was thinking they had a couple sacs in the bow. Also noticed how carefully the driver was about bringing the boat off plane when he slowed to pick up a fallen rider. Saw him take a few rollers over the bow, but my sense was that he was taking great care to not come off plane too quickly or risk burying the bow.

Not disagreeing at all, but FYI -

I was in the towboat for the Pro Wakeboard Tour in Ft. Worth in June during the Pro Mens semis. Talking with the driver (who I believe was Travis Moye for that round) and judges (Brian Grubb included), they had over 4500 lbs of ballast in the Parks Edition X-Star for the event (a bit smaller boat than the 230). Most of the riders were out at 80-85 feet and rode around 26.

Full bow sack under the tonneau in the bow. No sacks in the cabin (3 judges, ptotographer, driver and me), but big *** sacks in the storeage. Water was scraping the sunpad with every turn and whole thing rode way low in the water.

I've been in an Xstar loaded like that, couldn't cross the wakes with a 34in foil without smacking the board on the top of the wake, it was amazing once you got used to it. The gas bill was equally amazing, possibly even bigger than the wake.

Would be a lot of fun to ride behind a time or two but no way would I weight my own boat like that on a regular basis.

You can come out and see our 230 with all of our extra weight sometime. We also have a whole new stereo set up with 4 Wetsounds Rev 10s that replaced the 485s. Huge difference!!!

Our fuel consumption goes way up with the extra weight, so we don't do it too often. But it is fun occasionally to sack it out.

i was running my 230 on Sat and Sun with stock ballast + 750s x 2 in the rear, 650lb arrowhead sack and 442lbs of batteries from the helm forward (almost 2600lbs before the 5 amps and 100lbs sub box and subs). wake settled down around 24.5 to 24.7 and was insane. running about 3500 to 3600 rpms with my OJ power prop, model 475, 14.25x14.5x0.090 cup....

They cover the bow because the nose dips under just about every time they have a rider fall.

They also slow down so slow because the stern roller will come right over the transom if you come off plane too quickly.
