    Tow inflatable tube from Tower?

    Hello,

I am a new 2006 SANTE 220 owner. I have heard different information about towing from the wakeboard tower. Is it ok to do? To much stress?

    Thanks!

The tower should be fine. As long as you dont have too much weight or too many tubes. Also it can be hard on pylons.

I wish i could try a manta ray tube off a tower, guess theyre illegal or something now. Ive heard, seen & done both ways though, back seat is useless if off a center pylon but in the vdrive it workz well. And then some guys will say a tube doesnt belong behind a SN or on the water lol

sheesh sorry, tower should be able to handle it by the way. I pull 3-5 skiers behind ours. We have the Gen 2 FCT though.

Depending on how it is driven, and the side of the person, or people on the tube, you can easily put way more stress on the boat with an inflatable, than you would skiing, or wakeboarding them.
I believe an inflatable is more stress that you should put on a tower. Look for stress cracks in the gelcoat around the tower mounts on the boat, if you want to do this a lot.
On the other hand, I have had to rebuild the bottom pylon mount in a Ski Nautique, that was broken loose pulling inflatables.

I would suggest you give the people who want to tube the personal satisfaction of learning a skill, that will stay with then the rest of their life, rather than just entertaining them with a potentially dangerous adrenalin rush.

An the older SANs/SS, don't they have a little tow knob right on the back right by where the fan vents? I though this was for towing tubes.

In 2 weeks my extended family is coming down for a "reunion" of sorts. I know that I will at some point be pressured into pull some of them on a tube for at least part of the time. None of them are really little anymore. So, I am torn between competing ideas of (a) going in a straight line at about 15 mph and boring them into submission versus (b) going about 30 and cracking the whip so bad that I bruise them into submission.

Of course, either way I'm not pulling a tube anywhere near the good water, even if I have it all to myself during the week.

I've used that little tow knob you are talking about on my boat.
I say if you want any enjoyment out of it, crack the whip a few times
Then try to get them on a wakeboard and tell them "see I told you these tubes are dangerous!"

We've pulled from the tower all the time, just have to be smart about it. Watch for slack in the line and the tube trying to nose dive and overall weight allowed on the tube.

Growing up on a river where we had glass 80% of the time... I hate pulling a tube in choppy or rough water. It's actually pretty fun when it's nice water, a big wake, and a driver who knows what they are doing and can make you jump the wake back and forth. You can throw barrel rolls ha and even some moto-x tricks.

All that said I haven't pulled nor been on a tube in about 5 years. Now days if we are looking to goof off we throw on the trick skis, jumpers, two skis, or some combination and ride double.

Anybody want to talk about the 600 stitches my daughter got in her leg from a tubing incident or the kid in emerg at the same time with a brain injury from tubing?
