i own salty from new 550 hrs and 24/7 in salt no problems and flush and wash down vinyl after every use

go for it but check the following

exhaust maifolds/ gaskets. you will have to remove to inspect
tilt up engine (if DD) AND VIEW underneath, i also sprayed underneath of engine and oil pan with clear rust prevent lacquer.
excess corrosion on mounts, all the metal bits. if rusty can be rubbed down, primed and painted
add anodes to prop shaft and rudder
lubricate with engine oil all throttle and gear moving/ sliding parts

check oil for color, should be black not milky
install new oil cooler this is cheap insurance as they corrode and thats the end of gearbox
    check steering cable movement

IMHO and experience there is much more complicated things like all the electronics/ mech parts that can go wrong irrespective of fresh or salt use

A well maintained salt water boat will last every bit as long as it's freshwater counterpart. A brief visual inspection will always reveal how well the boat was maintained if you know the things to look for.
