'92 Sport Nautique

I'm considering buying a '92 sport nautique. About 750 hours. $11,000 with covers and nice wake tower.

The upholstery is needing attention, but otherwise appears to be in good shape.

Does anyone have a rough idea of costs to reupholster?

From everything I have read this has wood stringers.

Is there any other known problems or things to look at on these boats?

Its a decent boat, not the sought after stringers or hull design. Price seems a touch high, especially for a boat that needs an interior. I would think a mint one would cost that. Interiors are in the couple to 3 thousand range.

I dont believe anyone has confirmed that the Excel/BFN is included in that group. CC's marketing made no mention of the ICS being included on the '93-94 Excel/BFN, unlike the Ski and Sport Nautiques.

That price is a bit high and I would find a 93 or newer. The hull change and the all fiberglass are a big deal. There are a couple of them in the Los Angeles area right now like this one:

You would need to add a tower but they can be had pretty cheap unless you opt for the new dimension. I bought a 93 Sport a month ago for $9250 that needed a little work but not too bad.

1993 was a hull change for the better. I remember a friend with a 92 and when you would stop after a pull, water would go up the molded in fiberglass platform right into the back seat!!! BUT........it is a Nautique and a great all around boat. That was the only problem I remember!!

I owned a 91 for 17 years. Sweet boat, but sudden stops were a washout for the backseat. I never had any major problems, just do the pm's . The Ford 351 was awesome, along with the iinterior design. Plenty of room in the bow if needed. Boat was strong. If it was taken care of, great boat for the money. I moved up to a 07 211 Team. Sweet boat, but I miss the nimbleness of the Sport.

I ended up buying the '93 you linked me too. It was consignment at Greenhouse Marine. They were awsome to deal with and it is a real nice boat.
