    Gelcoat repair

I picked up a 99 Air a few months back. It has the FCT2 on it.

The holes for the FCT1 are/were covered up by foam padding that is now wearing out.

I have two options. Clean it all up by reparing all 16 holes, or get new foam pads to cover them again.

So my question is, does anyone have a ballpark figure for doing the holes? I'm guessing at least $500?

Last winter I had a fiberglass shop redo/buff the whole boat off the trailer. He fixed four old bimini holes, plus two other bad areas, plus the keel. Total was $1,000, so your guess is pretty close.

I just did this a few months ago. I had some holes from a previous owner's bimini that attached to the boat. Call up whitelake marine and ask for a gelcoat repair kit, it's only $30-$35! I used a dremel on the edges of the holes and any hairline cracks that were spreading from the holes, filled the holes, sanded the spots flat..............then I sanded the ENTIRE top of my boat and made it nice and WHITE again http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...Sport-Wet-Sand

Just buy replacement sano pads from Nautiqueparts.com and re-cover. I suspected that a previous owner had covered holes with those pads, but to be honest, they came in handy as non-slip surfaces when loading boards, etc. Even if you repair the gelcoat, you will probably want to then replace the pads. Save your money and just replace the pads. I'll be putting some on my SAN soon. I miss those pads.

Yeah, I need to do that too. My gel coat needs a good shine put back into it. Problem is, I don't have time for any of that. Work too much!
How many hours do you estimate it took you? For the holes, and then also for the whole boat.

Yeah, he filled the holes with something and sanded it flush. I want to atleast replace them because they are old and deteriorating.

Honestly, that's probably what I'll end up doing as there are other goodies I'd rather have for the boat... But maybe I want to do both
