Which would you pick?

2007 SAN 210 (330) with 270 hrs (2 owners and a bit risky) with nice stereo 35k

2007 SAN 220 (ZR6) with 100 hrs stock with little risk 47k

2009 SAN 210 STD (343) with 25 hrs no risk 53k


I spend 60% surf 30% wake and 10% tube (kids)

Looking for honest opinions.

1st one is two states away, has had 2 previous owners with no maintenance records (says he does it himself because he doesn't trust them) , lots of mods to the boat such as swapped ballasts, push button start, ipod and stereo customizations.

2nd Is sold by a dealer but they weren't sure on the maintenance records. Has been checked out by them.

Is there any warranty with the boat being sold by the dealer? If so, then I'd grab that one if cost isn't an issue for you. Me being mechanically inclined, I'd probably go for boat #1 provided I can test drive it and everything checks out. If you are mechanically inclined and can look over the whole boat, is there a huge risk to buying the 1st boat?

35k is a good deal for a 07...I do all my own maintenance and feel my CC is in better shape than most. If the outside looks cared for then normally the service will be cared for also... I would rather buy a boat from a guy who knows the boat than someone who runs to the shop for maintenance. Besides, the hours are low anyway.

I am somewhat mechanically inclined... I don't like changing timing belts but the easy stuff is doable (alternators etc..) Yea he said we could take the first one out, but other than glancing at the engine and making sure it drives ok I would not know what to check for.

No engine warranty with #2 ... #3 full warranty (demo).

if there's a dealer close by, you could ask/pay them to look it over...but you'd be trusting the dealer at that point...

I'd get the 2009 210. The 2007 has a crappy back seat. The 220 is an obsolete hull now. So I would go with the 09.

Yea the 07/08 have the back seat like that right. I do like the 12 seat capability of the 220 and 09 210. But if the 07 is a GREAT deal it doesn't matter that much. Trying to decide if 270 hours is too much and just adds to the risk.

Boat #1.... Run it by a dealer have them take a quick look if it passes then you're good to go. Even if it's not you've got a 12k difference there, that's a lot of room to bring that boat into the standards of the 220.

Only the 2007 had the odd back seat. they changed it in 2008. I have a 2008.

Also 270 hours is nothing if the boat was well cared for. I think I have 140 on mine and the boat looks, smells and drives like NEW. BUT I do spend a lot of time cleaning and mantaining my boats.

Keep looking there are a lot of great boats for sale and more to come with the season about over. You mat want to check out the boats on this forum rugdr has a sweet 08 210 for sale. Also check out the CorrectCraftfan forum, Onlyinboards, Boattrader and Boats.com. Take your time DONT compromise on what you want because of price. You will have to live with it long after you pay for it.

If you find one with a warranty that meets your criteria that is the smartest move. If you use it a bunch you will work out any kinks. However, if you buy it and let it sit til next April who knows. Hours mean one of three things: the boat worked great and got used often, the boat never got used, or it never got used because it was broken. I prefer 75 hours a year minimum average on a used boat.

i would do the 220. easiest to build surf wave out there in my opinion. more room. if you spend a full day in the boat, the otherwise unorthodox looking interior will quickly win your heart...i wish my 230 had my old 220s interior. is 47k the asking or the negotiated price?
