    wake surfing?

How fast should you be going when wake surfing? We had both tanks full of ballest three people on the back of the boat and we couldnt get in that sweet spot to let go of the rope.I was going about 10-11 mph.Is that too fast or slow dont know. help

I go about 10-12 depending on weight and etc. What kind of boat we talking about? Typically stock ballast isn’t enough to surf. Most people have ballast on top of stock.

I ride regular and just fill the port side tank leaving the starboard tank empty, with everyone on the port side and maybe a couple up front to lengthen the surf wake....

I set my Perfect pass at 9.4

With my 2003 210 SANTE I ride Starboard side and fill belly and Starboard side rear then have one 250lb fat sac on starboard rear seat and one 200lb sac on starboard rear floor. It puts out a nice wake.

I also noticed that if the boat is full of gas it makes a tad bit better wake.

I have a 2003 supe air and ride a 750 in the port side, the 350 stock center tank, friends in the port corner, and at 9.5mph. Makes for a nice curl.

Is there an easier way instead of hauling around all that weight all the time.We do alot other things while we are out for the day.

Less weight = less push from the wave, so the speed would need to be brought down a bit. More weight = more push and the boat can speed up a little. Also, is the board sized for your weight; and the size of your wave is just as important.

My kid learned to wake surf last couple of weeks and could get by with less ballast than I need. (He was amazing, really; he rides a Black Pearl at about 15 feet back and could come forward to the boat and ease back into a long pocket after only a few sessions.

Easier Way#1: add the weight by getting the sacs plumbed in once you dial in the wake. #2, more people.

It does take some time to set up but like anything worth doing, it is worth the effort if you enjoy it.

Read wakesurf threads on pre-2005 surf wakes. I have all weight on riders side with the exception of the center half full. 750 lb locker, 750 bow, 2x 400 lb floor or seat(depending on surf side).

There is no easier way to do it than weighing the boat down. Get a bunch of jabscos and you can use all at once to fill each bag.

when you say both tanks? do you mean both port and starboard? if so you need to only fill the surf side to start with.

i run 750 in locker, 2x400 on side, belly full, 600 in bow.

I was finally able to get a big enough wake to surf with in my 03 air 216 yesterday. I ordered 750 lbs of ballast that didn't get delivered in time because fedex doesnt deliver on weekends anymore, so I used 400lbs of sand bags in the ski locker and had a couple of 250+lbs buddies along with the factory 400lbs tank. It put off a pretty nice wave at 9.5 mph.

Anyone surfing behind a Sport Nautique? I've been having trouble riding without the rope. Right now I have 400lbs in the ski locker, 400lbs on the rider side (port), and 400lbs behind the engine. Also, I had about 900lbs of people (mostly on port side rear). I've tried 8.5-10.5, but 9.5 seems the best. Any tips?

In my 93 sport, I rode the port side, a full 650 sack in front of the back seat, a nearly full 440 along the side of the engine on the port side, 2 people or so on that port back seat, went about 9.5 or so give or take depending on the day, and turned slightly to the starboard side which helped develop the curl and prevent washing. I was told to turn to the starboard side when I asked and thought the poster was off of it because I wanted to surf port, but the guy was spot on, give it a shot.

So nothing in the front or ski locker? I doubt I'll be able to turn while riding, since I'm basically on a river. I might be able to start on a bend.
