    Nautique 210 questions

I'm strongly considering upgrading to a 210 or possibly a 230, but I have a few questions. I wakeboard 40% and surf 60%. Surfing is becoming more dominant as my body falls apart and when the lake is chopped up; however, a good wakeboarding wake is and will continue to be extremely important in a new boat. That being said, I am very confident in the 210's wake and I don't have any doubts that it won't be up to snuff. I've heard the 230 is a little more temperamental with weight unless you are running at 24+ (which I don't really want to have to do). I'm more concerned with the 210's surf wake. We will surf the port side 90% of the time. Here are my questions:

1.) I've read a number of posts (specifically from green210) about people being less than satisfied with their 210's surf wake. Have you guys since dialed it in or is it just not possible to get a great surf wake out of the 210? If you have, what did you do, and how do you weight it. Do you have pictures? I'm really only concerned with the port wake. A good starboard wake is a plus, but not a deal breaker by any means. I'm not trying to be snobby, but I'm looking for a large surf wake, not just "surfable"; my 2002 DD Air Nautique is "surfable". I'm an advanced surfer and I'm looking for an advanced wake to help me progress.

2.) How sunk is the boat when fully weighted for surfing?

3.) What kind of weight can you fit in the rear lockers? I've heard a 750# sac will fit, but does it fill up completely (or close)? Is it worth it to take out the factory tank? How good does an enzo sac fit (fills up completely without extra space). Can anyone give me dimensions of the locker with and/or without the factory tanks?

4.) What kind of storage is there under the rear side seats? Are the under seat compartments equally sized on the port and starboard? Basically, if I put a sac in each and filled it to the max, will there be equal weight in each side or will I have to adjust? Does anyone have dimensions and/or pictures?

    Thanks for the help.

I just posted this reply and obviously I don't know how to Quote or get hyperlinks to work. Sorry about that, hope you can follow and get the links to work anyway.

We don't usually ride on the port side because surprisingly most of my friends are goofy footed. But with that said, I do know that the Port wave is slightly better than Starboard on the new 210's due to the prop rotation. It kinda pulls the left corner a little bit more than right. There is a video on Slingshot Wake's website about the Arcane surfboard. The boat they are riding behind is an 09 210. Here's the link:

2.) How sunk is the boat when fully weighted for surfing?

I run our boat with factory tanks, 2 nautique wedge fatsacs', and 1 integrated bow sac under the front seats. To surf the Port side I would fill the port factory tank, put 1 wedge sac on top of the factory and the other on the left rear side seat, then we fill the belly and bow almost completely (makes the wave longer) you can take weight out of the nose to get the wave higher and shorter. In this configuration, water is almost to the rub rail when going 10.5mph.

The 750's will not fill completely unless you remove the factory tanks. The 400's will fill completely on top of the factory tanks. (i want to upgrade to these from my wedge sacs. The enzo sac will fit in either side locker, but i don't know if the large part will fill completely (no experience with that one)

4.) What kind of storage is there under the rear side seats? Are the under seat compartments equally sized on the port and starboard? Basically, if I put a sac in each and filled it to the max, will there be equal weight in each side or will I have to adjust? Does anyone have dimensions and/or pictures?

Sorry I don't have the dimensions of the rear lockers or under seats, but I do know that they are the same on both sides. From the battery's to the stern, the compartments are completely equal and we never have an issue with uneven weighting with everything full

    Thanks for the help.[/QUOTE

For what its worth, here is a video from a couple weeks ago of some surfing behind our 210. I know it's the Starboard side, but good anyway. http://gallery.me.com/astewart28#100000

Here are the only pictures I have of the rear storage.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

The surf wake on the newer (07 & up) 210's is great! That goes for both starboard and port sides. I removed my rear factory tanks and run the 750's in the locker. With 4 people in the boat all I need to do is place the people on the surf side, fill the rear locker full, and fill the factory center tank. I also run the integrated bow sac in my boat for wakeboarding but don't usually fill it for surfing. The wake has a very large sweet spot and can be surfed pretty far back with this configuration. I will try to get you some measurements of the rear locker and also see if I can find any pictures of the surf wake.

The surf wake is what sold me on the 210. With stock ballast and 2 peeps on board it puts out a very surf able wake.
The pre 07 models are not as good . I have an 08 with a 400 lb sac integrated on top of the stock ballast. We surf regularly with only the driver and dog [65lbs] on board. Goofy side isn't as good [prop rotation] but very doable.
I fill fully the side tank/sac and the center tank with the push of a button and we are ready to go.

Thanks for the info. That definitely gives me some confidence of the 210's potential. I've got 2 more questions:

1.) Does Nautique offer a jump seat (love seat extension, or tournament seat) for the 210? Specifically like the folding one on the 200. I've never seen one, and I'm thinking that the angled observers seat makes putting one in awkward.

2.) How does the link system work with additional integrated ballast? I'm not too familiar with the link; does it read full when the factory tanks are full or is there a way to tell it when the additional ballast is full? I understand that you will see the overflow coming out when the additional tanks are full, but it would be nice if the link somehow knew how large the bags were.

The 210 is money for surfing IMO and doesn't take a lot of weight to get it decent. Here is a video of my wife surfing with stock ballast plus 6 passengers. Put another 300-400 on the surf side and it gets ridiculous. I don't know how anyone could knock the 210 surf wake legitimately. It's not a 24' Centurion pro level surf boat of course but it's far from lacking.

Hey Aaron, your surf wake looks great! Do you fill all the factory ballast + extra, or do you fill just the port rear and centre tanks + 300-400? Where do you position the extra weight?

Thanks, we fill just port/belly or starboard/belly depending on the rider. Also, we have 400 lbs. of pop bags but rarely do I bring all 10 bags. Most of the time I keep three in the bow and three in the center floor locker.

I had 600 in port next to motor 600 on floor port side 500 belly and 250 in the bow port side in my SS which is the same as a 210 and even though its a left hand rotation we had a monster wave my chick erased the video we had, i would body surf and pop up like i was surfing at the beach good practice for surfing i will get pics next time, we had the rub rail in the water! kind of scary but the lake was pretty calm

This is the best wake you will get out of the 210. We have come through many tests and many problems but we have come to this. You can judge wether it is good enough or not. Click image for larger version

like a lot of people on this site I have had the privilege and experience of owning both, I would take the 230 over the the 210 , reason, more room, rides much better when weighted, better wake board wake, weighted or un weighted ,surf wake about the same.

+1. I've had mine close to that with 10 people in the boat. You have it dialed for sure so I'd love to know as well. Thanks!
