boat winch problem (where to buy a new one)

i was winching my boat up a hair and the small gear on the winch sheared in half and shot across the parking lot.

i bought another winch from a local china type parts store (princess auto) and it failed. returned it twice and they have all failed now.

where have you guys gotten replacement winches from. what should the weight rating be?

I just replaced mine with a Fulton winch I got at West Marine. I have a barefoot nautique which seems to weigh quite a bit. I went from a 1600 to 1800 lbs rating. Seems to work great so far.

What boat do you have? Do you know the weight?

West marine will have them or check the dealer locator on the top of the link I posted. The f2 is a really nice winch

I have an 07 SANTE 220. It weighs just under 4000lbs.
