May be buying 1997 super sport natique with tower and 700 hrs

Hello newbie to the forums. My boating background. Had a 98 moomba outback ski boat closed bout with tower. Wake was horrible. But great beginner direct drive boat. Its sold.

Found a 1997 super sport. Had flight control tower. 700hrs. Upholstery original i believe but still in good shape. Not cracking or stiching come undone. Real good shape. Does not have the ski pylon in floor like some ive seen. Comes with trailer and good tires. Just a cd player and 4 speakers. It starts up sounds great. Did not get to test drive it. My question is, The guy will do 13k cash. That is low retail according to nada. I feel good about the buy. Just nervous as its a lot of money and i will prob sell boat at end of next yr and start the attempts at babys

I am planning to wakeboard and would like to wakesurf. I hear that its great boat for wake board specially after adding some weight. How is it on wake surf? Any and all opinions welcome as id be getting the boat tomm or wed. Unless i hear that thats too many hours on motor for the price.

you should probably post some pics for everyone to see...unless someone else wants to jump on it. I'd have to feel the seller out but 13k for a SS is an insane deal according to what they usually sell for. What motor is in it?

Yep motor is important. Also, what tower? I can't imagine that it has a 2nd gen Flight Control Tower on it (or NDS equivalent) at that price... but one never knows. Tandem or single axle trailer? I remember when at the beginning of the season someone in San Antonio listed their SS and I think it finally went for somewhere in the $14's... and it had no tower... and that was an insane deal. I felt bad for the seller actually, because that was below it's normal market value. If you don't buy it, let me know. I know some people in the Midwest that would be interested... if it's a GT40.

Surf wake is good. Wakeboard wake is one of (and many consider) the best there is. You don't even need much, if any ballast, to get a very good wakeboard wake on that hull. Adding ballast just makes it get insane pop.

Also, be sure it is a super sport. $14k is about right for an older sport.

700 hours if it was treated reasonably well is not a lot for a GT40. I sold my Air in the beginning of the season and it had about 700 hours on it, and it ran like a top... and still is according to the new owner.

Also, confirm that it was not used in salt water. There is typically a big discount on saltys, and usually for good reason.

Drive it. Take it to a mechanic and do a compression check among other things.
Buy it and sell it in a year for 15K if everything seems ok.

Gt40 motor. Black Flight control tower. No ballest. Says super sport natique on side. It is a dealed that has it. Says they have checked it out. Sounds like i need to get it. They started out 15 or 15,500 on price

Is it the original FCT or the 2nd gen? The original does not collapse in the middle. These had a lot of weld issues. 2nd gen is much better.

It does collapse. Looked like it collapses fwd front of boat. Pulled to screw knobs put and thats it i think
