from 2003 SANTE to 2007 SANTE

I wanted to post up my thoughts on upgrading from the 2003 SANTE to the 2007 SANTE. We bought the newer boat a few weeks ago because we wanted the newer interior, hull, tower, and several other options. I wasn't real sure how I would like the 2007 over the 2003 but i'm very impressed. I was a bit freaked out when i backed it out and it turned the opposite direction as the 03, i guess that's because the prop is spinning the opposite direction. Anyways I just thought i would share.

    Pros
    1. 07 has more power
    2. 07 has a better surf wake
    3. 07 is great on rough water
    4. 07 has more storage
    5. 07 is more responsive all around (steering, throttle)
    6. 07 is larger and deeper allowing more room

    Cons
    1. 07 has no built in coolers
    2. 07 is louder on acceleration and deceleration
    3. 07 has more creaks and sounds than 2003

No opinion on the wakeboarding wake? This (and perhaps build quality) are items the purists will lament as having gone downhill in the hull change.

      I knew I forgot a few things...

The 07 wakeboard wake is wider and seems softer or shaped different. I also noticed a second wake in the center as well which was strange. But We did enjoy the wake as it was taller. In order to hit the wake on a jump we had to shorten the rope a little as at full length the wake was washed out (This was at 18MPH, no ballast on wake setting 1 on plate).

After filling ballast and at 18MPH and wake setting 2 we could hit the jumps with a full length rope but still had the center wake. Its like two wakes (one on outside that's large and one on inside that's small)

I like big air so tanks were full and wife like tanks not full. Personally I liked the wake much better than the 03 but its not as forgiving. The 03 was much closer together and I could cut out further.

OK on to the build quality...
I did notice a few more creaks and crunkles while driving the 07. It seemed that you could hear the noises over the engine. The ballast pumps are very loud while filling and emptying. When you walk across the floor you can feel it give in places (I checked and its not cracked). It almost looks as if they didn't spend as much time engineering the interior and build as the 03. For example... The port side observer seat has two gas shocks and one of them is against the cooler so they just angled the mount not thinking about the shock being on an angle and popping off the mount eventually, The underside of the drivers dash vibrates when stereo cranked causing a very annoying buzzing sound, The dash pad is a soft rubber that has come unglued already after 160 hours of operation, The rub rail has a chrome or stainless strip in the center of it so if you bump it then you have a dent instead of a rub on rubber, The front seats (bow) are a bit hard to remove for storage as you have to remove the center seat and then pull the seat bottoms towards you or you will pry the seat back up breaking a clip or damaging the seat back.

I'm a very picky person when it comes to my toys. I'm in no way unhappy with my 07 as I will correct these issues myself as most of them have already been corrected. Hope I helped.

Try it on smooth water first.

Yes I know all about that with our 03. If we set Perfect Pass and had even ripples the speed was off.

Hmm... my speed is not off on my PP with choppy water (although I'm running the nauticlaugic gps module, not a paddlewheel). What I meant was, don't up the speed by 5 mph on chop... it will freak you out. Do it on smooth water and get used to the higher speed before you try it on chop.
