I'm looking at the original 210 hull for wakeboarding primarily as I guess its known to have a great wakeboarding wake. Run across alot of SV-211 boats - how do these boats compare - wake wise for wakeboarding.
Not really a good comparison honestly. The 211 way more mellow and rampy then the 210. The 210, for most, is the absolute best pure vert wake with a really aggressive lip that boots you straight up. The 211 was designed as a bit of a compromise to have a better ski wake. If you are going to be wakeboarding most of the time you would be better off with a 210.

Thewakeboardreport refers to both boats as "classics", and is worth reading the article. Yes, the 211 wake is rampy for WB and I think has a great shape, but I haven't ridden behind the 210 to give a comparison, original 210 or current. It may come down to how aggressively you ride and whether you want the flexibility for a decent ski wake, or for me, one that doesn't intimidate young kids who are just learning to ski and or ride. Been very happy with the 211 and fits our needs nicely!
I've ridden both wakes A LOT! I have an '05 210 and my parents have an '07 211. I really enjoy both wakes and if my crew did more skiing, I would ABSOLUTELY consider a 211 for my next boat (if they were still making them). Since we are primarily a wakeboard/surf crew - my next boat will be a newer model 210.
Here's the dirty...
210 - terrific very vertical wake but a narrow transition (and thus narrow landing area). This wake will really boot you. Due to the narrow size of the boat, it takes very little additional weight to create tremendous size. (I usually just ride with stock ballast + 400 in the bow 75 ft rope @ 23 mpg. I'm an intermediate rider with 4 inverts and several spin tricks in my bag.) Also, because of the narrow size, the wake is very sensitive to side to side weight.
211 - I was surprised at how much I like this wake. It is much more rampy, but the transition is longer making this wake MUCH more forgiving (much less of a knee breaker also). I haven't experimented with loading this boat up with a lot of extra weight. I typically run stock ballast + 400 in the ski locker 80 ft rope @ 23 mph. This boat also rides much better in rougher water. (It is quite a bit bigger - even though the length is basically the same.)
I've owned both boats, and I got to admit I like my 211 better, if u run the stern tanks full and the belly tank half full, it gets pretty close to the 210 wake. But the outstanding thing about is the 211 is the practicality of the boat, so much storage, plus so much easier access to the platform, all round it's a better boat.

Its a wider boat, hence more volume inside, it feel bigger to me, I fit more stuff in my 211 than I did on my previous boat.
agree that access to the platform is personal prefence, with way I look at it is, I think my sundeck will last longer than a 210, only becuase there is no traffic over the sundeck to get to the platform. (but that's my opinion and my way of thinking).
