    Powder Coating?

    Hey gang,
I am considering doing some powder coating this winter. Just wanted to check and see what kind of pricing others have gotten on this. I talked to my local shop and they said the tower (without looking at it) would run about 250. I am also thinking about doing the windshield frame and the vents. He said he charges $1 per foot. Does this sound about right?. I have a 2004 SAN with all grey and want to powder coat to black.

Also, he asked me if the metal currently was painted or powder coated. To be honest I'm not sure. It has not been changed since the factory. So which is it?

    Thanks

Hey Justin, $250 seems kinda cheap to me, but all the powder coaters up my way are a bit pricey. If they stick to that price I may be asking for your shop's info. I used a company that does iron gates and whatnot near my house and they seem reasonable, but don't really like doing anything other than gates. I had to convince them my tower speaker mounts were not car parts. (Too many ricers wanting coating done I guess)

Ask your guy if bringing the metal in raw would make the price cheaper. Usually they charge if they have to sand blast the parts themselves. If you have access to a blaster that would be a good way to keep costs lower.

      BTW - See you tomorrow!

I just had the windshield frame on my 2002 San done. Including stripping old paint and removing adhesive residue, it cost me 250
