I wish i could fill my tow vehicle and boat up for $100, it will always cost me a minimum of £70 ($120) to fill up my car (landrover discovery Td5) and another £130 ($208) to fill up my boat (1980 barefoot) and will only get 1 days boarding out of that.

Brad, I'm with you on that as i have a TD5 too, i ended up LPG 'ing the boat. A 6 litre motor pulling round a full set of ballast and sacs all day will easily top £200 (380 bucks)

What I want to know, is where do people get the money to afford a $40K motorcycle or boat? Not everyone has a stash of money to pay cash and very few trully have the room in there monthly budget to finance such an extravagant toy. That's a lot of money to chunk out for a toy. Sometimes I wonder what I am doing with one(*Y&^*%@!@? Are we nuts?

My grandfather always told me "if you can't pay cash for it, you can't afford it". When it comes to boats, motorcycles, and other big toys I agree with gramps.
My question is........... Where do you (an211) get the money?MOE SCHLABACH

Commission from sales - without real cash I would not have purchased a Nautique (or any other big toy). But, that just my comfort zone.
There are more equitable places to put our money - no doubt. However, the time with family and friends is priceless. Each one of us weighs the cost according to some set of values and circumstances. Mine just tell me no without cash - I got that from my Grandfather and it works for me.
My statement was not actually a question. It was more of a comment of amazement at the cost and affordabilty of a high end luxury item like a Nautique or Harley. It is amazing how many people justify $40-50K+ boats, motorcycles, RV's, hotrods and the like. This is especially true when only 2% of the American population earns more than $100K per year and the average american household income is less than $50K per year.

Personally, I am willing to make sacrifices in other areas in order to be able afford a boat payment. I believe there is a big difference between being able to make the payment and being able to afford it. there are way too many 1-2 year old boats being sold in order for the seller to pay for things like an unexpected child, medical bill or cost of moving for a job etc. If such a thing is going to put you in a position where you cannot make payments then you never could afford it anyway. The biggest sacrifice that I make is vehicles. I always let someone else take the big depriciation hit. Another factor is how much are you using the boat? Our boat is our life and we use it as much as 3 times per week. That is why it is easy to make some sacrifices. I also believe in keeping boats or anything else that was financed much longer than simply until they are paid for then move on to the next loan. Having said all that I have to admit that I envy anyone who can pay cash for toys. maybe someday I'll be there too. Enjoy your boats everyone!MOE SCHLABACH

BigBaldSplash,
I agree that CC and Harley are very different. I mentioned that they could even be called opposites in my first post. What they do have in common is a distinctive product and the opportunity to OWN their respective industries. I think if CC took the right approach they could bury the competition.

If CC is going to dominate the market, they need to go out on a limb and definatly in the styling company. They may need to do that to the extend where I'm not sure if their religion would allow them to...respectively...
I think its great how CC has the reputation of being the Mercedes and BMW of boats. Thats pretty much tops for the majority of people. And even in my book I could relate a CC to a Ferrari or Porsche. MC still has the rep. of a Lincoln or Cadilac. I think thats something to brag about right there...I Nautique, therefore I am.

I dunno, that may be pushing it.
Correct Craft has the world at their feet: Solid company, solid morals/ethics, loyal clients, great reputation and solid dealerships. Granted the competition is fierce and the consumer is savy but the potential to take greater market share either thru organic growth or M&A activity is ripe. Your right, I am pushing it, only to suggest it's possible.
Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked to own the BMW or Mercedes of boats in my CC. I just would like to see CC market more to and through their strengths.
