between the 3 "surf" tabs, two tower legs, and the center tv screen, holy crap. i do like the stern rice rocket seats though. nothing like having your whole back sweat.
Looking at the interior it looks like the rear bench seat is broken up like a 07 210. When you move the rear seat to face to the rear where do others on the side seats put their legs? When the front walk through back rests are up there is no way to get from front to back. How many people does it hold? It wont be comfortable for a lot of them.
This boat is way over the top they tried to put too much in it. My guess is it will cost 130-150k.
I am a 2008 SAN 210 owner and love my boat, but I personally think the new X-Star is pretty sweet and I give MC credit for stepping out of the box. No, I don't like everything on the boat (tower and rear headrests to name a few), but overall MC is pushing things and it will only make CC step up their game.
can someone please explain to me how this is the 4th x-star? there was the original based on the 205v hull. then there was the pickle fork in 03, and now this one. why do they keep saying 4th generation? i googled it and looked on mc's website and can only come up with this being the 3rd.
I'm pretty sure the first year of the x-star was in 1998 when it was the 205 direct drive with a high-pole. This only lasted one year and then they went to the v-drive and tower in 99. I'm guessing they are counting that boat as the 1st gen.
I'll have to repost what I did earlier re: my $0.02 on the next XStar.
I think MC have done an overall good job with the design on the new Xstar, they've taken some risks for sure, but I think it will "resonate" (hate that word now, heard too many politicos use it!) with their intended market. The pros are raving (of course) about the wake, but on the videos it looks pretty good, and they have a BIG BLOCK engine available (CC-anybody watching???). Saw different specs on the stock ballast, but somewhere between 1500-2000#'s.
Pros for me;
-rear convertible seat
-front playpen/walkthrough convertible seat
-seating surfaces/details look good
-dash is cool and somewhat functional
-interior layout in main cabin
-I like the overall look of the boat, not for me, but I think it's good
-wakeboard racks have improved again, they make the stock CC racks look bad
Cons
-power tower is horrible
-bow area is way too BIG!
-bow looks low to the water (look at the vids)
-head rests on rear bench
So, MC decided their target market likes flashy, and they gave it to them. They have pushed their design and have incorporated some innovative thinking/design cues.
MC is pushing CC, competition is good!

Correct. I sold them in that era. The X package was a solid color hull (we stocked a hideous green one) with a Fly Hi extended pylon and fat sack. I remember think, why didn't they put some sort of tower attached to the gunwales, since the extended pylon limited how far you should go outside the wake? Next thing you know... the Air Nautique! Next time you have a good idea, get to the patent office!
Good point! I'll admit, I'm a little excited to see the 2013 Prostar, as some of these X Star features are pretty cool. Plus, the new Prostar is going back to 19' - supposedly more in the '91-'94 direction.

If there is one thing that MC has over any other company, it's their boardracks. Evidently they have a patent on those because no other manufacturer's even come close. CC needs to come up with some new racks because MC's make theirs cheap.
