I don't want to give up on the season so I'm looking at installing a heater to extend it. Does anyone have any goood leads on the best place and idea on cost to get a heatercraft system? Any idea if this is a good DIY or dealer install? I saw on the HC website that it takes 3-5 hours so probably a 5 hour job. I'd like to run it to my keyless touchpad rather than the clunky switch. Anyone had a dealer add this system? Any leads on a goood price?

I just did a 3 vent system in my 99 SS. I got the system through the group buy here on PN. I did a search on PN for examples of other installs. This is my second install and I chose not to use the 3 position switch for this install. My older boat does not have the touch pad. I know the touch pad on the 01 was a 3 speed switch. I ran the fan to the 10 amp breaker/switch and used the high setting. I always ran the fan on high with my old boat anyways. Layout is key. Kinda like measure twice and cut once. Make sure that you have room for everything before you start cutting in your vents. It really is easy to do. Time depends on how handy you are how difficult your hose run is. I also add ball valves to my installs to isolate the heater core when not in use.sigpic

The wiring from the factory harness should be in place for the heater add. Figure out where it is installed if ordered with one and use that spot. My boat had a mounting board glassed in to screw to, and the power harness was already there. Use the instructions they send for connecting to engine. Measure 5 times before drilling interior and use a new hole saw. Gotta love the heat!!!!2005 SV-211

I am looking to see where the vents are mounted in the fiberglass. I know two come from under the driver's side kickpanel but I was wondering how the one in the rear is routed (in the factory location.) I know it is mounted just behind the driver but I wanted to know how to route the vent tubing there.2008 Team Edition 210 - Black

On my '07, I installed the Heatercraft myself, and just installed the footwell vents. I didn't have the stones to drill into the glass. Your keypad is pre-wired, but you'll need the harness attachment for the heater side (or hardwire in the keypad wires, which is the route I took). The most diffcult part of the install is running the heater hoses under the floor. You'll experience a few nicks, scratches and bruises on your hands and arms.'08 196LE (previous)

I took a slightly different approach. the heater in my 2002 SAN had its core blow last year so I removed it and left the water lines in place, just connecting them to get the water flow through since. Now I am going to replace the heater, but instead of putting it in the kick panel (I have placed the fly high diversion valves their so i can run multiple ballast bags and setups without adding more than the four pumps I already put in) I am actually placing it in a cooler which I can remove during the summer etc. I have quick-connected the wiring harness to the fan through the cooler, used a hole saw for the heater vents and extendable tubing, and the placement will be such that there will be a direct flow of heat to the drivers feet (if he/she wants it). I have a vent for a fan placed, and am actually thinking about putting cupholders on the top of the lid for added function (or maybe a cushion for a seat). The heater lines will have brass ball valves running inline so when it heats up (the weather), and I do not need the heater any longer, I simply close the valves, disconnect the hoses and the wiring harness and remove the set up for the summer. During the winter, we rarely have more than 4-5 in the crew, and certainly less beer and food since they tend to be shorter sessions, so the room on the floor it takes up shouldn't be a concern.
