    What surf board

    Hey everyone,

Anyone care to share what board they are using for surfing and what you would recommend? I currently have a Broadcast 4'9" that I can surf behind just fine. Just having trouble doing some of the more aggressive tricks. Did a few 360's but the board just seems slow. Wondering if the new boards are faster and more responsive. I am 6'2" and 220#'s. Ride at GPS of 9.5mph, too much faster and the wave/push goes away.

that is the same board i started out on and quickly out grew. its not you, its a slow board. i dont know what to recommend you due to our sizes are different (5'10'', 185). i ride a flyboy and yes pro model boards are unbelievably more responsive and faster. ferrari vs accord. ride one and you will understand how the pros ride like they do. you may try wakeworld under the surf tab and read about boards. there is quite a bit of discussion and its a good place to ask also.

as far as your wave. you may need more weight but its hard to say without knowing your set up. also it could very well be the board. i have to slow mine down for beginners when they are on it so they dont get left. i ride 1mph faster on the flyboy due to how much faster of a board it is.

I also started with a Broadcast and now I have a 51'' Phase Five board (I'm 5'8'' 165lbs) I forget the model, super quick! I think you could probably use the 54'' models they have to offer.
The best is really to try them out before buying because they get expensive pretty quick!

This is a good point. With my first board, an IS Blue Lake Quad, I added a set of large fins which gave the board more down the line speed. Just moved up to the Swallow V2 and they are making the boards faster, and I am now riding at 11.5

We have a cwb tsunami which is very slow. We use it for beginners and it seems to be a good board for that and for them to progress a little before stepping up. The board I ride is a grindwater release 4.2. It is very fast and loose. Spins easy and is a blast to ride.

I have the IS Sweet Spot and it's very fast compared to the Obrian Alias we first used. You may be too big for it I'm 5'8" 185.

I have the new Byerly Hazard 5.4 - and the group of guys I ride with love it and it just won the Wakesurf of the Year at Surf Expo. http://byerlywakeboards.com/product/...azard_5%274%22

Started/learned with a Liquid Force 5.8 board (forget the name) that board is nice for all the beginners that get in my boat.

ALSO take out my 6'2" longboard which is always fun for everyone!

Sorry everyone for not responding sooner. I never got a email notification. I must have some preferences set.

My set-up is a 1100# sac in the port locker, 600# in the ski locker and a 400# on the port floor. We have a pretty good wave and surf between 9.5 and 9.8 GPS or approx 11.5/12 mph on the speedo. Like I said before, the Broadcast just seems slow. Tried to surf at 10mph but I just can't hold the wave while cutting and such. I did take a peak over on Wake World, man are there a bunch of boards out there now. Not too many choices when I got mine in 2005.

                    Thanks everyone.

We like the Ronix Koal with a twin 2.5 surf fin. Plus our local shop does a 50% off sale at year end and we get them cheap.

I have an Inland Sweet Spot. That board is really fast and light. Definitely not for beginner.
