I'm interested in hearing about your experiences with slalom skiing behind the newer 210's. I'm not expecting any personal bests or record breaking stories, as I realize this is a wake boat. But, I want to know if it can be done and what the wakes are like or if this is completely unrealistic. Thanks

There was a video on youtube a while back of a guy slaloming behind a 210. It didn't look too bad.

It depends on what you are used to skiing behind. I love the wake of a 196. if it is not a 196, it is not worth my time skiing.

We're used to skiing behind our outboard. Which takes forever to get you up, and kills your arms trying to get you up. The wake isn't too bad, but it's not great either. Neither is a 196, but if you want to do everything (ski, wakeboard, etc and can't afford a new 200v), maybe the 210 is not the end of the world?

You could look at a SV211. I learned to ski behind a 91 Sport Nautique and thought the wake was fine. Then we purchase and SV211 and that boat is a much better ski boat then the 91 sport. I think the 211 is a better ski boat than my cousin's 83 Ski Nautique also. I don't wake board but I have kneeboarded and the wake is big and we don't have factory ballast. SV211 is a great all around boat for watersports and we just cruise a lot with my little kids. Hope this helps you.

so many factors, most of them relate to the skier not the boat. Fairly good recreational slalom skiers skiing pretty fast at shorter line lengths can probably ski decently behind almost anything. Last night I took a ride behind my 211 with 6 people in the boat. I would be willing to bet that my wake at 34/28off was no worse than a new 210 would be with 2-3 passengers. I had a great ski ride on a beautiful night that would have been just a little better behind a state-of-the-art ski machine. Right after my ride we filled the tanks and switched to wakeboarding and surfing. Really depends on you more than the boat. In my opinion today's wakeboarding v-drives offer so much more versatility as a platform for fun and entertainment than a slalom dedicated machine that skiing over a big wake is a little sacrifice easily made. If you are really serious about slalom or skiing bouys I doubt you would have even posted the question so I would keep an open mind and buy a boat that meets the greatest majority of your needs.

I have written a couple post about the below. Welcome to PM with your number and I will call you.
Everyone is right below regarding depends on what you are coming from... I wouldn't say it is knee to chest wake crossing. I will say it is 10X better then the 211 which is a terrible boat to ski behind, that is knee to chest wake crossing. I have owned them all , see my list below.

We had a 196 that we sold because my son wanted to wakeboard more, so we thought we would trade in the 196 for a 210, I was thinking that since he wakeboarded at 21 mph and I ski at 34 to 36 mph that I would be able to find a sweet spot for me to slalom at with no weight, short rope, or whatever. Im here to tell you that you cannot cut thru the wake, yes it gets a little smaller as you speed up but the wake edge is a steel wall when you hit it, your ski will not cut thru it, it will simply go airborne unless you really use your legs as shock absorbers,....after a ski buddy of mine did some cartwheels trying to slalom behind the boat I sold it (my son wasnt happy) and we bought a 216, now my son is kindof happy, and I am kindof happy, neither of us have the wake we really want. Wish we could own a 196 and a 210. Good luck, we are happiest with the 216.

It's surely not my stars and stripes slalom wake, and I wouldn't run the course with it. However, for free skiing I can ski aggressively thru both wakes and link turns behind nordicron's 211 no problem. The first time I ever put a hard cut I almost bit some algea, but I find that if you focus on being truely centered on your ski you should be ok. You will definately take a bump, but you should be expecting that. The problem is that if you're out of position on the first wake, you'll be in trouble at the second. With my boat it's more of a single hit as you cross both wakes, this is much wider and you will hit both. I'm 6/3 285 and ski 32-34 mph, the boat will get me up and maintain speed no problem, so disregard that concern. Putting a 1/2 load in the belly ballast will reduce the wake considerably, but it's harder that way. Wish he had posted better pictures. The ski isn't even on edge in those shots. Also, I'm riding a modified BigDaddy, which should mean that anyone on a regular ski will have a much easier time. Another buddy of ours JP rides an F1-x and seems to have no real trouble with it.
