    Advise on Purchasing 2003-2005 SAN210 or SV211

After many years of owning a bass boat I have decided to purchase a Ski and Wakeboard boat. Family is begging for it. After looking at all the various manufactures I have decided to purchase a CC Nautique. However, I have never owned an inboard ski/wakeboard boat and was seeking any advice that could help me with my purchase. Primary use will be wake boarding and surfing. I have been reading a number of posts from this site and the members seem to be very honest and knowledgeable.

Shop shop shop, Nautiques hold value. I found an 08 from a seller that just couldnt afford it anymore and got it for what 05 & 06 are selling for. Wasnt really looking and actually thought it was a craiglists scam. But it was the real deal and I have the title and my dealer looked it over and also told me he would list it for 15k over what I paid. Deals are out there just take your time.

For wakeboarding and surfing, go SAN210. And if your kids are begging for a wakeboarding boat, they mean SAN:-) The SV211 is a great boat, without a doubt, but the 210 is the real deal (for those disciplines).

You posted a very specific year range, but you should be aware that in 2007 a few things changed that may cause you to want to broaden your search.

Based on what I've read mostly here, some things which I never knew when i was shopping: I "believe" it was then (2007?) that nautique changed from Walter V drives to PCM, which among other things, meant they went to left hand props. The direction the prop rotates on a "left hand" prop (like my 2007) is reported to casue the wake on the port side to be better for surfing, for instance -- so if your natural surf position to to surf with your left foot forward and facing the wake, you'd be happy with a left hand prop becasue you'd be surfing on port side and the surf wave is far better on that side (in my opinion). Others here with greater techincal knowledge would have to comment on the V-drive manufacturer, etc.,

End of the season and cooler temps tend to bring lower prices...

Regarding the 210, the hull was changed in 2007, resulting in a less "abrupt" and more "rampy wake (if your kids are learning this might be an advantage); also in 2008 the cockpit layout was changed (I like the look of the new layout).

07 went to lh screw GM blocks
08 moved the ballast pumps to the stern and opened the cockpit
I've had 05,07,08 2008 my favorite but just miner tweaks from the 07. Fold down seat in the 08 is worth th price of upgrading.

Thanks HS. I have listed specific years because those seem to be the boats that are within my price range. I wish I could have a newer model but it's just not in the cards. Thanks for the response.

test (and test ride) as many as you can so you understand the attributes of the models you are considering, as well as the condition and shape that they are in as well. Some sellers may think it is a PITA to take out folks who are lookie-loo's but you need to know what you are buying. Some of the 211's advantages might be the walk-thru design of the stern (good for kids and saves the yinyl on the sun pad and back seats); its "do everything" ability. The 210's advantage would have to be the reputation as a purpose built wakeboard boat, for starters. I am sure you can do everything with a 210 that you can do with a 211 (?).

210 just wasn't really on my radar when we were looking (Small kids (then) and I started by thinking 206, maybe 216, then wife saw the 211 layout and "boom", we went v drive; after that's when we started WB, too, we were both long time slalom skiers until then.)

Thanks HS. Agreed, the walk-thru seems like it would be nice with kids. Did you purchase new or used?

"Used" is an unfair term; I found it here on PN with 37 hours...it is still under warranty (not that it has been needed).

We have a SV211 Limited and the walk through and interior layout sold us. I have little kids and we can get in and out the boat at the dock or off the boat lift easy with the walk through design. No matter which boat you pick, you can fish while standing on the back platform which I do sometimes. Enjoy the shopping and good luck.

Another happy SV211 owner here. My wife was sold on the layout of the SV211. Like most people in this thread, we have a small child as well. The layout of the boat allows for her to move easliy around the boat.
