They just caught two of them, just spoke to police station. Got full confessions. I'm on my way down to the boat tonight to fill out police stuff. Both of the guys are 18. I think the thing that really makes me mad is that they cut my boat cover and cut wires in stereo system.

Sorry to hear it. I hope you can get them to pay for the damage! It was one of my fears, so I try keep it in locked stroage. I talked to my dealer and they have a customer that had a cover with an alarm system. It was custom made so I have no idea what it cost. If cut or removed before turned off the alarm would go off.

Was your boat in a dock ? Our boat was pilfered through last year while on the lift in our dock. They just unhooked the cover enough to gain access. While they didn't mess with the stereo, they stole ropes/wakeboards, and worst of all, they took a tool box with stuff I had accumulated over 30 yrs of boating. I turned it in to the local police but never heard back. At least they didn't cut my cover. Also heard lots of reports of fuel thefts this summer.

Your insurance will cover the cover and should cover the costs of installation by a pro. A friend of mine had his boat broken into and stereo equipment stolen and insurance covered replacing the items and professional installation (less the deductible). It is a hassle for sure, but at least they caught them. I hope they get to spend some nice formative years in prison. Hopefully the value is enough to make it a felony.

If it makes you feel any better, My wife and I decided to take her brand new 4runner limited to pick up our new 196 in Kentucky. We left from pittsburgh with 400 miles on her new ride. We picked up the boat and stopped at tanger outlets in Cinci on the way home and came out to a busted window, glass all through the truck, back packs missing, hers: some sweet undies I miss, but mine they can keep. I pod touch and some Cds. But the point......I had to pit stop at home depot to duct tape plexi glass in the hole and tow a boat 300 miles in a rain storm because a couple of D bags wanted what we had. In short I feel your frustration and can only imagine what you would have done to these punks if you had caught them with their snotty little fingers in your boat. I guess the only solace is the knowledge of human history since record keeping is that the lowest social class is the thieves. They dont have the skills, brains or motivation to survive on their own so thay take yours...........Sorry to hear about your ordeal, that blows but be thankful your not the thief.

I hate thieves...they either don't want to or can't earn it on their own so they just take it form those who can and do!

I am so glad that they caught the loosers but much happier that you have your boat repaired and are ready for the season!

I once caught a dude stealing a pair of my ski goggles off a table in the lodge. I'm not proud of it, but he ended up with a broken nose and rib, and I ended up in anger management. Sometimes it's better NOT to catch them in the act!
