Is skiing behind a Super Air nuts?

We are still looking for the right boat for our family. The latest is a 2000 Super Air. We've been looking for a good cross over boat and this is obviously much more of a wakeboarding boat. Has anyone skied behind one? I'm not looking for a competition ski boat, but it would be nice to be able to make some recreational ski runs once in a while just to re-live the good old days.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is skiable. Is it ideal? No but if you are wakeboarding 85+% of the time, you will be fine.

I ski behind my Super Air quite often. Like SN said, it isn't ideal, but it isn't bad. Just empty all the ballast and have at it.

I think it depends on how fast and what line length you ski. If you are a recreational skier sking at 28-32mph on a 60' tow rope you are probably not going to enjoy reliving of the good old days. If you are skiing 34-36mph cutting through the wakes it shouldn't bother you at all.

Check out the SV211, the hydrogate does a good job of knocking the hard edge off the wake for skiing. Plus they handle like a direct drive (IMHO).

I have a 2000 SAN. At 15' off and 30-32 mph, its not too bad. The bump is pretty big but not horrible. At shorter line lengths and higher speeds (32-34) the bump shrinks and gets a bit "softer". However, if you are used to skiing behind a DD or smaller ski specific boat - you will not like it. I am the only one in my family that likes to go out on the slalom stick now and then (and I'm not all that good) so its not a big deal to us.
