SAN 210 Questions from a Newb!

Hey guys looking to move out of my Mobius, possibly and hopefully into a 210.(Always been a Nautique fan) Have a couple decent deals picked out on some 210's, but really feel like I do not know enough about the brand to make a decision on 1 over another. Few Questions: Are there any differences in the 210's from say years 2004 - 2008? If so, are the big enough difference makers to choose a newer or older year? What is the difference exactly in Team Edition and reguler SAN? Also is there anything I need to be looking for that may be a problem or cause a problem with these particular models? Oh and any problems with Ramlin trailers both single axle and dual, as the boats I am interested in come with the different types. Thanks for any and all help and advice in advance.

There is too much to cover without writing a novel. The "old hull" 210 ended in 2006 & the new hull started in 2007. I consider them to be much different boats. Look around the forum and do some searches. It will be much easier to talk new hull or old. What price range you looking at?

Haha Thanks! Been doing some of the searching since I started this thread and have learned a lot already. Looking 35K or less but may be able to stretch that to 40K, kind of depends on the selling or trade of my Mobius. Am I right by stating the main difference in the hull is that the new hull is less vertical and more rampy? Also I read somewhere that the V-Drive box has changed, can u explain what this has done to the rotation of the prop. I am or will be coming from a direct drive so V-drive is a new concept for me completely. Also, I understand that the best way to find out is test drive but that is difficult because I am 2 hours from the nearest dealer and more than 3 hours from any boat I am looking at. Also the only wakes I have for comparison are my mobius, older ski supreme and 84 ski nautique. I need as much written description as possible to help me sort through what I want quicker.

If 35-40k is you max, I would recommend the old hull..You MAY be able to find 07 in that range, but I think you are really limiting yourself. The 07 I have seen for 40K are few and I personally don't think the new hull (especially a 07) is worth the wait, compromise or stretch of funds.

I recommend a 02-06 and you should be able to find a nice one in that price range. The prop rotation changed in 06, but it's not a big issue unless you plan on surfing a lot.

The "old hull" wake is steeper and more narrow than new hull. It also takes less weight because it's a smaller boat. There were some slight differences from 03-06, but nothing major. Many like the 03 and the upgrade to the ballast pumps in 06 is a slight plus.

As far as Signature, Limited or Team...just focus on what options each boat has. It changed from year to year and I have seen manny limited additions optioned out to basically a Team. The biggest difference will be that the Limited & Team package has the keyless push button helm and the signature does not.

I see you are in Georgia.

I'll sell you my '05 if you'll bring me this '08! I love my boat, but would like to move up to an '08 model. I just don't want to drive 800 miles to get it.

I do want to be able to surf, although 90% of the time we r wakeboarding, my whole crew is left foot forward so is surfing a complete no go unless I go 06 or newer? And OK we may could work something up especially if u happen to know somebody who wants an 05 möbius ls right now haha! Although it would cost me about $1200 bucks in diesel to make the 800 mile trip n the f350 so would have to b a screaming deal haha

You have a lot of Fall, and Winter to make a choice, but more importantly, you have an offer from NautiqueHunter. Take him up on it, and buy his gas, and dinner for his time and trouble.

Having a boat shipped is not near as hard as you may think. I have flewn to many a state to look a boat over then shipped it home.

The regular side is surfable on the pre '06. I don't surf so I can't comment on how to weight it but a lot of people here surf on the regular side of the old hull before they changed the prop rotation.

I'm going to disagree w/Shooter re: '07+ hull vs. the "legacy 210" hull. I've been riding behind both lately, and for me the new wake is way better. My boat is a '99 Pro Air (direct drive) and my wake steepness is in the middle of the '06 210 and '08 210, with the '08 my favorite.
It will depend on what size crew you normally ride with, and how long you are staying out on the water. The older SAN does not have the storage of the newer boats, and is more sensitive side to side than the newer 210.
As for $$$, you can find the '07 hulls in the price range you're discussing, somebody on the forum just sold a beautiful '07 within your budget. I've also helped two people find boats in the last 9 months, and from what I was seeing, the '07's are coming into that price range now. Not the normal, but they are out there, and when they get into that range go pretty quick. IMHO, worth stretching the budget a little now...

My family is liking to 07 and up wake better then the 05 wake aswell. We have old and new styles in the family and are able to ride both reguarly. It took awhile but once you learn the new boat then tend to offer more pop with less work.

I really love the old hull, great pop and just like hitting a wall of water (which is what i like). But i have an 07 and the wake is just more versatile. I can take newbies out and make it real mellow, i can throw an extra 1000lbs in it and make it a strong progressive wake, or you can slam it and it performs on par w/any other wake out there. Its not real sensative and and its real easy to find the sweet spot.

If you learn to ride a slammed pre 2007 hull you can control any wake, but will probably be disappointed in it compared to the 210; but that's coming from a old 210 biased guy. However, many others will agree.
