    New 230 Trailer Questions -

Its finally official - finalized the colors and specs for our 2012 SANTE 230 order today with our dealer - Monday is "final changes" deadline....so now its onto picking the trailer and options.

We've pretty much decided to go with a Phoenix Trailer - our last was a Ram-Lin and was great but have heard some great things on the Phoenix's. Below is what I'm thinking of doing and thought forum might have advice or suggestions based on your experiences.

Phoenix Tandem axle painted trailer (black) - - (to go with Masters Blue boat with Silver Cloud Hull)
    Diamond Decking instead of carpet
18" ION 136 Chrome wheels (anyone suggest 20's versus the 18's ??) - picture below
Crash Pads - instead on roller(s)
Tall trailer guides (instead of the side pads like most ram-lins have)
    Swing tongue trailer
    Spare tire and mount
    LED lights
    Tie down brackets
    Disk Brakes

Anything I have forgotten or any better ideas to replace any of the above ???

    Thanks All....

I like the side pads. That is a heavy boat and if the protective PVC breaks on a load, that means a metal pole against your boat... 18" wheels will be a better ride than 20's imo.
But I don't have experience owning a phoenix, only Ramlins which I have not a problems with.

Get the heavy rear rollers. i have had no problems with mine and have had them engage a few times.

Shag - I guess I see your point, but thats why you add Trailer Guide Pads over the PVC guides.......I think the problem with the Side pads from Ram Lin is the position of the "Super Air Nautique" letter...on a semi steep ramp, it would be pretty easy for those side pads to do a rough rubbing job on the lettering....

On my 236 I had issues with the guide poles coming in under the rub rail and causing problem on steep launches because they were too short. I had the poles extended 14 inches and it was perfect after that. I would shy way from the pads based on experience loading the 236. I could load my 210 without touching the pads at all but it was the wishbone ramlin. The 230 is a big boat. With a bimini, boards in racks, and the size of the boat it catches a ton of wind. When the wife loaded the boat it was always a bank shot and the PVC with pads never left a mark. My worry was the PVC floating up and breaking off and the metal pipe hittingunder the rail and gouging the fiberglass. With the longer support polesthat couldn't happen. The trailers that aren't wishbone type are a lot easier to end up over the fenderbecause the hull rides on top of the bunks rather than in between. Sounds like you have decided to use the poles but make sure they are long enough. Also I has the 20's and it rode great. It didn't ride roug h at all. I would check with you tire guy to see which would be cheaper to replace and base my decision off that if you will have it that long. Also I had the winch type tiedowns fastened on the back of the trailer and they are really fast. Just make sure when u disconnect them to reingage the locks so they could not unspooland get sucked in the prop if you have to reverse hard to get off the trailer. That happened on a friends 230 and he ruined his prop

I had roller front on mine and missed the crash pads I had on the 210. It is much easier to see and line up the front with the crash pad rather than roller.
