'08 SAN 210 - which engine is this?

    Hi gang,
Wondering which engine is this - obviously engine cover is removed so not immediately obvious to me - is it the 340 or zr6- are those 390hp?
    Cheers

Well, if it's a zr6 it would have closed cooling system.

That is a ZR-6, Now to tell if it is a 409 or 390 hp motor take a look at the throttle body and if it is mounted to the upper intake with three fasteners it is the lesser hp motor. 4 fastners and it is a 409.

If it is a confirmed 08 model it will be the 390hp, 409 was not released until 2009 from memory or maybe even 2010

                  thanks for the resoponses guys!
Also out of curiosity, do the closed loop cooling engine typically use water or some mixture of antifreeze, or could you use antifreeze if you wanted to?

                  Cheers,

You use antifreeze mixture in the closed parts of the cooling system. Just like the tow vehicle.

If pure water is used, the boiling point will be too low and it will boil over/loose its coolant.

Conversely you don't want 100% coolant either. Look at the manual. It will probably be a 50/50 mix.

Agree and never mix orange dexcool stronger than 5050 or it will turn jelly-like and leave a jelly coating. The chevy engines should use dexcool.
