    Ram-Lin Tandem length

    Currently sit a 2004 black/grey limited 211 on a ramlin single axle. Because of the narrowness of the single we are looking to upgrade to a tandem. Likely going to be the ramlin because of where the
    tongue breaks and the tight space in our garage. Although I still plan
    to at least look at the tandem prestige trailer. I believe Dave from
    Ramlin told me the tandem and single axle are the same length.
    Does anyone know for sure? Or would someone with a tandem
    ramlin mind measuring their trailer length. Waiting for the two feet
    of ice to melt on the lakes here in Minnie. Maybe in mid-April.

    I am pretty sure the length of the two are the same but you aren't going to gain any width from the single to tandem either

      So its not true that inside fender to fender width of
      the ramlin tandem is greater than the single? Dave
      spoke of at least a 2 inch gain on each side just months
      ago.

        hmmmm Not that I was aware of but I would say, go with what Dave says. He has probably measured it. I have never measured it to be exact. Why are you wanting more width?

          Because the 211 is so wide. Even when it is perfectly centered
          on the trailer its only an 1" or so on either side. For landing you have
          little to none margin of error. That part of it I could live with. But the boat shifts when trailering. By the time you have gotten home from the lake its rubbing against one side of the hull. The battle scars are already there. Ouch.. Besides DHM, Prestige does anyone have a
          trailer with a swing-away tongue like Ramlin that fits the 211 right?

            Not that I am aware of. I am pretty sure ramlin is the only one offering that swing away tongue. The other companies have variations of it

              My trailer is made by Zieman, a couple years ago I wouldn't have touched them, but they have learned a lot since then. The only thing that I might change is the double roller bow loading system, if the trailer is too deep and you come in too fast there is the possibility to chip the front of the keel. It has one of the best designed prop guards and very nice carped uprights. Beats the heck out of returning from the weekend trip to find somebody grabbed your padded upright tubes because you forgot to remove them.

                I think the fenders are a little different design on the two... might be a little more room on the tadem.... I run a single axle....
                Have you tried tie down straps(ratchet straps) on the stern eyes... your ramlin has tie eyes at the stern... that may be enought to keep your boat from shifting in transit....

                  Have you adjusted the fenders to pull them all the way out. On the Ramlin, they seem to ship with the fenders adjusted all the way in. There are two or four bolt per fender that when loosened allow you to pull them out. Also losen the bolts on your guides and pull them in at the top then retighten.

                  I had spoken to Dave at Ramlin about this when I first got my 2004 216, and he walked me through the fine tuning adjustments. I no longer have problems with the boat rubbing on the fenders. If it in fully in the nose cradle, the it hits the guides before hitting the fenders.

                  Hope this works for you.....those black marks on the side from the fenders are IRRIATATING to say the least.

                    Spoke with David at ramlin this morning. They have a tandem
                    trailer specifically made for the 211. The axle length is not wider than the
                    single. But by using narrower tires, so they are able to get a wider
                    fender to fender space. Thus you gain at least 2 inches on each side. This will work for me. Plus because of our garage length, the ramlin trailer is the only design that will fit in w/o the platform on. Working with Kevin M up at SonWatersports to get the order in. Thanks for the help.

                      Prestige started producing a swing-away tongue this year. It is a little different than most, but it seems to be very tough / overbuilt. It is a huge improvement over the previous pull-out tongue, and the break point is about even with the nose of the boat. (Previously even with the pull out removed, the trailer still extended a couple feet in front of the bow).

                        At least your boat and trailer will ride better over bumps and potholes with the tandem. I have a Ramlin tandem under my 216 and I never noticed any rubbing marks. Once I verify the boat is cradled between the fenders, I'm off. I do have to be careful not to load the boat on top of a fender, but this is easily avoided by not putting the trailer in too deep on the ramp.
